‘Modded‘ or simply ‘Modified’ applications in good Portuguese, are something that despite not being extremely normal to see in the world of smartphones, has some loyal fans. After all, when entering this world, we can add some very interesting features to various types of popular applications like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, etc… Not to mention the versions of services like Spotify and YouTube, which are capable to offer us the ‘Premium’ version of the application completely free!
For example, do you want to see who stopped following you on Instagram in real-time? There is a ‘mod’ for that! Want to send an automatic message on WhatsApp when you’re away from your phone? There is also a ‘mod’ for this.
Do you use ‘modded’ apps on your Android smartphone? Is it a good idea?
In short, modified applications are useful, and are often even free. However, there is always a risk associated with using these interesting things. For example, in the case of WhatsApp and Spotify, it can be caught and immediately banned from the platform, due to the fact that modifying the application is prohibited under the terms of use. In addition, as you can imagine, there is always a security risk associated… After all, nobody really knows who is responsible for the apk, and where it came from!
Therefore, it is always a good idea to see the permissions that the apk needs to work, and of course, restrict its activity in the background. In addition to all this, you already know that when using these applications, you will most likely find some bugs in the system, due to the fact that it is code developed outside the domain of the responsible official team. It is all a matter of realizing whether the advantages are worth compared to the disadvantages.
