Gmail is currently perhaps one of the most popular/used email services in the world right now. Gmail has over 2 billion active users who use this service for personal and business related conversations. This has lead Google to enable Gmail users to access their Gmail account without an internet connection. You can sync messages, Compose and read messages among other things.
This feature is intended is increase users productivity and help users access their Gmail account on the go where they might not have access to any Wifi network or Internet connection. However, This feature is only available for Gmail Web on the Google Chrome browser for PC so if you don’t have a Chrome browser installed you might want to install it now.
How To Use Gmail Offline
There two ways to go about this which depends on which Gmail Web interface you are on; Classic Gmail (Old Gmail Interface) or New Gmail Interface.
Gmail Offline For Classic Gmail
If you are on the Classic Gmail then you would need the help of a plug-in on the chrome browser to aid the offline mode.
- Go To The Chrome Web Store and Search For “Gmail Offline App”
Click on Add to Chrome to add the Plug-in, Then follow the on-screen instructions to get it up and running.
Now Select the Gmail Offline App from the list of Shortcuts and Allow Offline Mode Option and Click on Continue.
That’s it. You can now access Gmail Offline by Opening the app from the Chrome Web Store. The Gmail Offline can only be accessed through the Chrome Web Store. However, there is a more easier way to go about this; Switching over to the New Gmail and Using the offline mode which has already been Incorporated in the new Gmail.
Gmail Offline for New Gmail
If you are still on the Classic Gmail then you can make this switch by going to the Gmail Website >> Log In >> Click on the Gear Icon at the top right side of the screen and select Try New Gmail from the dropDown Menu. (It might take some time to switch to the new Gmail, be patience)
If you’re already on the new Gmail, then follow the steps below.
- Go to Gmail Website. (Make sure you are on the new Gmail)
Click on the Gear Icon at the top right side of the screen and Select Settings.
Under General, You will see the Offline Mode. Enable it.
Select the Duration you would like to use the offline feature for (30, 60 or 90 days). Also, choose if you would like to have access to attachments offline too.
Save the changes and you’re good to go.
Now you can use Gmail Offline.
Conclusion
Being able to use Gmail Offline comes in handy if you have to access or use Gmail services on the go without an internet connection of WiFi Network nearby. The New Gmail offers you this feature without the need to add a plug-in to your Chrome browser.
So I’ll advise you to make the switch now as The new Gmail also gives you Access to other features like the Gmail Smart Compose Feature and Gmail Confidential Mode.
