Apart from releasing a lot of affordable smartphones at the 2018 Mobile World Congress, Alcatel also launched the Alcatel 1T 7. The Tablet is an update to the One Touch Tab, and packs new and exciting features.
The 1T 7 runs smoothly on the new Android 8.1 Oreo Go edition, the Oreo Go edition are for smartphones with just 1GB RAM or lower. Beside the new operating system, the 7-inch tablet has nice features and perfect for those on a budget. Want to know more? Stay with me.
Design
Sports a Plastic overall body that’s very comfortable to hold and operate. It weighs an astonishing 245g like most tablets but you won’t really notice because of its plastic body. The rear camera is at the top left corner with no LED flash whatsoever.
No fingerprint scanner? In 2018, if affordable smartphones are coming with the feature, then affordable tablets should follow suite. Moving to the sides, where the volume keys and power buttons are present. It measures 9.15 mm in thickness, which is pretty impressive to be honest. The device is available in only Black and Blue colors.
Display
So much bezels on the screen, Alcatel weren’t thinking about their tablet line when they were going bezel-less. Nonetheless, the bezels were reduced a bit obviously but they will still be in your face. Regardless, the screen got up to 65.75% screen to body ratio.
The screen is perfect for watching movies or playing games in a big screen. The 7-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen is huge and will make you enjoy your movies. It has 1024 x 600 pixels in resolution and 170 pixel per inch density for clear visuals.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood is the MediaTek MT8321 chip with 4-cores of processor and 32-bit CPU architecture. The processor reaches a clock speed of 1.3 GHz, while the ARM Mali-400 MP2 handles graphics. The graphics processor comes with 2-cores and reaches a speed of 500 MHz with 28nm process technology.
It’s a budget tablet, so there’s just 1GB of RAM space available with a memory speed of about 500MHz for light multi-tasking. Store up files in the 8GB RAM space available, if it isn’t enough, you can upgrade up to 64GB with memory card. Alcatel 1T 7 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo Go edition with modified user interface.
Camera
At the back, there’s a 5MP rear camera with no LED flash. The camera can capture just 2K resolution images, with photo dimension of just 2592 x 1944 pixels. The camera has some features as well but don’t expect magic with a 5MP camera. At the front, the 2MP selfie camera is perfect for video calls and selfies as well. You can also record videos of 720 pixels at 30 frames per second.
Battery
Powering the Alcatel 1T 7 is a 2580mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with fast charging technology. With the fast charging feature, it shouldn’t take more than 1.6 hours to fully charge up the battery from 0% to 100%.
