Alcatel has been in the phone industry for a while now and has proved themselves worthy. Their old smartphones were great, and they’re not disappointing anyone with their smartphones. This is why you should have high hopes as regards the new Alcatel A50 smartphones. Other previous smartphones by the makers include Alcatel Idol 5S, Alcatel A3, Alcatel A30 and more.
DESIGN
On measurements, the Alcatel A50 smartphone measures 146.1 x 71.9 x 7.9mm while weighing a not too large 146g. Moving about with the device won’t pose a problem at all. The Main body of the smartphone is wholly built with Plastic. Only the Silver colour variant is available.
DISPLAY
It does have a pretty big display of 5.2 inches. The screen resolution is pegged at 720 x 1280 pixels. While taking care of producing on-screen images and icons is the 282 ppi pixel density. The display type is an IPS LCD, with a screen-to-body ratio of 71.00 %. The screen is protected by a Scratch-resistant glass (Dragontrail). I must make reference to the pretty low pixel density the device possesses. Should have been better, don’t you think?
PROCESSOR AND OS
Built on a Quad-core MediaTek MT6738 processor, the processor speed is 1500 MHz. Alcatel A50 device runs on the Android operating system (v7.0).
INTERNAL STORAGE AND RAM
For storage of music, videos, files and many other documents, the Alcatel A50 devices avail users with a 16 GB storage space. This space can be expanded with the use of a micro SD card to the tune of 128 GB. While taking care of running apps and all is a 2 GB RAM. Many have opined that these days, smartphone makers should do better than just a 2 GB RAM. I think i share their sentiments.
CAMERA
On its rear, there’s a 13 MP camera. It comes with a Dual LED flash. Features of the camera include Touch to focus, Face Detection, Self-timer, Digital zoom and Geo tagging. On the front, the camera quality is pegged at 5 MP. The front facing camera comes with a flash too. This department is somewhat laudable too.
BATTERY
As its powerhouse, the Alcatel A50 is backed by a 2800 mAh battery. The average talk time (3G) is 45.00 hours, while standby time (3G) is 24 days (585 hours). I think the battery capacity could serve the average smartphone users adequately, but heavy users might need to step up a little.
