Amazon Echo is a surprising and compact device with thousands of different uses. But if you have a new one that you don’t want to connect to Wi-Fi, or if suddenly the connection to Wi-Fi is interrupted, Amazon Echo becomes useless.

Without a working Internet connection, Amazon Echo will not talk, process commands or transmit multimedia content. Often, the solution to connection problems with Amazon Echo is found in the connection to Wi-Fi and not with Amazon Echo itself.

How to configure Amazon Echo

If you have just purchased or received a new Echo, the first thing you will need to do is connect it to your Wi-Fi connection so you can start enjoying it. Amazon Echo relies completely on the Internet to work properly, so before you start, place your smart speaker where there is signal and make sure Echo is connected.

  • Open the Alexa application on your smartphone or tablet to connect Echo to your wireless network.
  • On the Home screen of the Alexa app, tap the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner. Then tap “Settings”.
  • Then, tap “Set up a new device” in “Alexa Devices”. Choose the Echo device you’re connecting to Wi-Fi- Eco, Tap or Dot.
  • So, choose the language and touch the blue “Continue” button.
  • On the next screen, you will perform the configuration of your Echo device and click on the blue “Connect to Wi-Fi” button. Your Eco will tell you when it’s ready and you’ll also see a ring of orange light around the top of it.
  • If the echo light does not change to orange after a while, hold the “Action” button (the dot) on the echo for a few seconds. Release it when the light turns orange, then tap “Continue” in your app.
  • Choose the desired Wi-Fi network to connect Echo to. Then enter the password for that network. Amazon Echo should now connect to your Wi-Fi network and alert audibly when the connection is successful.

If the connection fails, make sure you entered the password correctly. Since the password is hidden, it is easy to incorrectly type one of the characters. Try reconnecting and re-entering the password before trying any of the troubleshooting tips below.

Let’s explore the topic- How to solve common problems with Alexa / Amazon Echo

Why doesn’t my Amazon Echo connect to Wi-Fi?

If you see a ring of orange light around the top of your Amazon Echo at any time after performing the initial setup, it is trying to tell you something- it is not connected to the Internet.

Even if you are connected to WiFi with Echo, this does not mean that the connection between your cable or DSL modem and the Internet is working. The Echo will try to reconnect with your Wi-Fi and your WiFI will try to reconnect with the Internet, but it may not be successful.

To regain the Wi-Fi connection or between Amazon Echo and the Internet, you will need to re-establish a connection. What could have caused or created such problems with Amazon Echo and Wireless connections? Below, we will examine possible problems as well as ways to resolve them.

Amazon Echo does not connect to Wi-Fi, possible solutions

If Echo is not connected to the Internet or does not connect to WiFI. The WiFi connection is between Echo and the modem or router, while the Internet connection is between the modem and the Internet.

  What is Mixed Reality?

Follow the steps below in order until it is reconnected.

  1. Check that the modem is connected and connected to the Internet. Can you connect to Wi-Fi and access the Internet from another device? Otherwise, the problem lies in the router or modem. Disconnect both devices, wait 15 seconds, then reconnect them.
  2. If that doesn’t work, try the same thing with Echo. Turn it off completely using the power button, wait 15 seconds, then turn it back on. Wait a minute to see if it automatically reconnects to the Internet.
  3. Is there still no connection? Don’t feel frustrated- there are many other options to try. You may have saved your wireless password on your Amazon account when you set up Echo for the first time. If you have recently changed your Wi-Fi password, Echo will not be able to connect. Just open the Echo app, update the password and it should reconnect automatically.
  4. If you are using a dual-band modem, two Wi-Fi networks may be configured. The two frequencies are optimized for different uses. The 5 GHz frequency offers a more stable connection, while the 2.4 GHz frequency is better for devices located further away. Try switching to the other network to see if Echo connects.
  5. It does not work yet? Try repositioning the echo. First, move it away from all wireless devices that could interfere with its signal. So, move it higher, for example over a piece of furniture, to avoid interference. Finally, it could be that Echo is too far away from the wireless router or in a part of the house where the signal is not particularly strong. Try moving Echo to a better location, such as next to the modem. (Tip- alternatively, you can buy a wireless extender to expand the range of the router.)
