A group of friends were discussing last night about how our lives have changed since the advent of mobile phones. Things were a lot different in the days of cellular and now that we have smartphones, even if we are lonely, we still have an enduring companion – mobile smartphones. One aspect of the discussion which drew my attention is if it is necessary for us young people who see ourselves as wanting and possessing the latest smartphones to upgrade our smartphones every year.

    What it Used to Be

Remember in the years past, we knew nothing of the obsession that we have with mobile phones now. Virtually all our lives are put into using mobile phones. We connect with old friends, we make new friends, work, play games, check the weather, watch movies, track health issues, listen to songs, and do many more with our smartphones. Each day gives us more reasons why we should add one or more of our activities to an app on our mobile phones. No doubt, as you read this article, you know so many people who spend a lot of time consuming entertainment and life-sapping social media posts. Imagine having to be without your mobile phone for 24 hours.

So with this, we feel a need to upgrade our phones every year. The obsession is so serious that we believe that we must be able to jump on the bandwagon every year and make sure we get involved with the latest app, or the latest software making in-roads to smartphones. Nothing says the same. Smartphone manufacturers are eager to continue enticing with big, new, and shiny thing.

From the leak of new smartphones, fans are often enticed about the upcoming features that set the phone apart from its counterparts. If the news media gets a hang of it all and keeps promoting the phone that it becomes a household name even before its final release. Manufacturers know that they have to keep the luster on the product and they do the best possible to attract fans.

    Choosing Wisely

Consider that you have a smartphone that has 256GB internal storage capacity, 4 or 6GB RAM. Probably, the camera performance is 16 MP or more and the battery is 5000 mAh or 4000 mAh. If your phone is powered by Android 8.1 Oreo, and Snapdragon 855. You must know that even in the age of Android 10 you still have a great smartphone. This phone will last you for at least three years.

Best Inverters To Buy In 2024

Most iPhones and many Huawei or Samsung smartphones are able to last several years considering the features mentioned above and others as well. That’s why it is always good to buy a phone that has good display features, excellent camera, nice performance features, and powerful battery.

But Your Reason Could Warrant Upgrade

If you’re like me, you will upgrade your phones every year or discard the one you are using now in order to buy another one. It depends on the kind of work you do and if you make things happen through your phones.

However, there is an amount of money I would never spend to upgrade my phone. For most us, an upgrade may not be necessary because we simply want to make and receive calls and snap pictures. Are you bored with your smartphone? If you have the cash, it is time to move up the ladder.
