Design

Archos Saphir 50X

The Octagon shaped smartphone boasts of a rugged polycarbonate body that can literally stand the test of time. With IP68 certifications, the device offers dust and water resistant of up to 30 minutes underneath. The phone doesn’t come with a fingerprint scanner whatsoever.

The overall durability of the device can’t be unrivaled, according to the company. It’s eight sides has been tested to withstand falls and scratches. Measuring 13mm in thickness, the Saphir 50X is bulky as expected. Weighing 210g and available in only Black color, a bummer to bright color lovers.

Looks like there are more bezels than screen here, but the bezels were added to protect the screen from falls and scratches. That’s why there’s no physical navigation buttons at the bottom bezel. Additionally, the screen is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

At the top bezel, we can see the selfie camera, which is ready for your selfies both on land and underwater. The 5-inch S-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and 294 pixel per inch density. The screen dishes out a 16:9 aspect ratio and stretches up to 61.9% screen to body ratio.

Hardware and Software

The Saphir 50X houses the Mediatek MT6737VWT chip with Quad-core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The 4-cores of processor clocks at 1.3GHz with 28nm process technology offering a smooth ride. In the graphics department, the Mali-T720 MP2 graphics processor handles it efficiently.

For multitasking, 2GB RAM space is available on the Archos Saphir 50X with a memory speed of 667MHz. In terms of storage, 16GB storage space is available for storing files and apps, you can also upgrade up to 128GB with a memory card. The Archos Saphir 50X runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.

Camera

For photography, the 8MP shooter has autofocus, LED flash, touch focus, face detection and other quality features. Record videos of 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second, while the 2MP selfie camera is for video calls and selfies.

Battery

Powering the Archos Saphir 50X is a 4000mAh Non-removable Li-Po battery with no fast charging technology. Even without the fast charging feature, it shouldn’t take more than 2.5 hours to fully charge up the battery from 0% to 100%.
