The last time we talked about an Archos device, we were examining the Archos Sense 101X, the rugged tablet from the French company. We have come across many rugged smartphones in the past like the Ulefone Armor, Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4, Ulefone Armor 2, HomTom HT37 Pro, AGM A8 and many more but not many rugged tablets are come seen everyday.
Today, we would be reviewing the Archos Sense 47X, a new rugged device from the France-based OEM.
DESIGN & DISPLAY
Ad expected of any rugged smartphones, the Archos Sense 47X is big… and heavy. Looking at the device, the big and bold black body build is a component you can’t ignore. This is quite advantageous because it protects the device against breaking and shattering whenever it goes against hard surfaces. However, I particularly don’t like the big bezels of the device. They are just too big and wide.
The display is the standard 720 x 1280 pixels resolution screen and sized 4.7 inch. The screen type is a LCD IPS display. Nothing particularly exciting about the display except for the water and dust resistant Corning Gorilla 3 protection it boasts of.
PROCESSOR, OS & STORAGE
The device comes with a low-end 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6737 Quad-core processor. It also boasts of a meagre 1 GB RAM and 16GB of built-in storage memory. The storage is expandable using a microSD card in the dedicated slot.
Surprisingly, the Archos Sense 47X runs on the Android v7.1 Nougat operating system. Not sure if users would be able to enjoy the inherent multi-window feature of the OS or if the device will get an Android Oreo update.
CAMERA & BATTERY
The main camera is located at the back and is a 13 megapixels lens which enjoys a LED flash support for bright and clear images. The secondary camera on the other hand is a 5 megapixels camera for selfie purposes.
The Archos Sense 47X is kept up and running by a non-removable 3,000 mAh battery. The battery capacity is decent enough, should at least carry a user through a whole day but being a rugged device, I also expected the battery to be rugged. Something in the region of 4,000 or 4,500 mAh.
PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
The Archos Sense 47X was launched and released in August 2017. The device costs about $100 to $120. That’s about NGN 35,000 – 39,000.
