The R2 Plus is another affordable midrange smartphone that gives value for money. The device selfie shooting prowess is on another level, the 13MP front shooter will definitely surprise you. Of course the R2 Plus is an updated version of the R2 smartphone from Blu. The midrange smartphone is quite powerful for its price, packing more than the average of specs.
Design
Blu R2 Plus doesn’t have jaw-dropping body and looks like the average Infinix device. It sports an overall aluminum rear shell with curved sides from the back. I wasn’t expecting much with the design though, since its a midrange smartphone from Blu.
The LED Flash leads the features at the back and sitting pretty at the extremely top middle. The rear camera follows suit with fingerprint sensor that unlocks your device in 0.1s, then the Blu logo follows. All in a horizontal format at the back of the Blu R2 Plus. The dual micro-sim compatible device is kinda fat by the sides, measuring 9.2 mm slim. Furthermore, Blu R2 Plus is quite light overall weighing just 167g and available in only Black and Gold colors.
Display
I know mid-range smartphones are coming with bezel-less screens, but it seems Blu hasn’t gotten there yet. The most annoying thing on the screen is the Blu logo at the bottom bezel, like the logo at the back isn’t enough. The bottom bezel is quite useless since the fingerprint scanner is at the back.
In terms of the quality of the screen, the 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen isn’t that bad. It boasts of 1080 x 1920 pixels in resolution and 401 ppi density, making the screen a stunner. Surely it will display immersive visuals even though Blu achieved just 69.6% screen-to-body ratio on the R2 Plus.
Hardware and Software
Blu R2 Plus houses the Mediatek MT6753 chipset and an Octa-core processor with a clocking speed of 1.3 GHz. The king of the graphics department is the Mali-T720, while for heavy multitasking there’s 3GB RAM storage. Which is more than perfect for a phone that’s less than $180, talk about value for money.

Store all your favorite apps, movies and games in the 32GB internal storage it comes with. But if you need more space, you can always upgrade up to 64GB using the microSD slot. Blu R2 Plus runs on Android 7.1 Nougat OS, its too early to tell if it will get the 8.0 Oreo update.
Camera
The selfie camera on this baby is more than brilliant, the 13MP front shooter comes with a dual-led dual-tone flash. The powerful flashlight at the front will help take breathtaking selfies even in low light environments and nightclubs.
While at the back, there’s a standard 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture with beautiful scene modes. It packs amazing features like autofocus, face detection, panorama, HDR mode and the rest to help you out.
Battery
Blu R2 Plus is powered by a 3000mAh Li-Po battery that is Non-removable. Disappointingly, it doesn’t have the fast charging feature, which is almost rampant in current midrange phones.
