Bravis A553 Discovery is an affordable smartphone with a sleek body – Review, Full Specs and Price

Bravis A553 Discovery is another affordable smartphone from Bravis. The device comes with a full metal unibody, that’s sleek and pleasurable to hold. The OEM is fond of designing smartphones and not including their logo on it. I don’t think the company even have a logo, the body of the A553 Discovery is so plain, you might think it’s a clone. It comes with low-class specs as well for those on a tight budget. Want to know more about the Bravis A553 Discovery? Lets dig in.

Design

Bravis A553 Discovery

The body is so plain, just like I expected, it seems like Bravis doesn’t have a logo yet. However there’s something about the Metal body that looks inviting, it’s comfortable to hold and flaunt as well.

Only the rear camera and dual-LED flash are visible at the back, both in a vertical position at the top with the camera coming first. It’s also very slim for a budget smartphone, measuring 7.9 mm in thickness and weighs 177g. The device is available in Gold and black colors only.

Display

No narrow bezels in sight here, with bezels being at the top and bottom corner. The bottom bezel houses three navigation buttons, while the top houses the selfie camera, speaker grille, ambient light sensor and LED flash.

The 5.5-inch HD IPS capacitive touchscreen boasts of 1280 x 720 pixels in resolution. Enjoy games and movies on a clear screen, thanks to 267 pixel per inch density. The multi-touch screen got up to 70.53% screen to body ratio, with a 2.5D curved glass protecting the screen.

Hardware and Software

Under the hood is the Mediatek MT6580 chipset with Quad-core processor. The processor on this device boasts of a maximum speed of 1.3 GHz, with a 32-bit CPU architecture. It has a 28nm process technology and Mali-T400 MP1 graphics processor with 2-Cores. The graphics processing unit, reaches a maximum speed of 400MHz.

For multitasking, it comes with only 1GB of RAM which covers light multitasking, it reaches a memory speed of 400MHz. In terms of storage, there’s 8GB internal storage space which of course is upgradeable up to 64GB using a memory card. The A553 Discovery runs smoothly on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with modified user interface.

Camera

For photography, the 8MP rear camera captures 3K resolution images. The photographs are okay with the price it retails for, with photo dimension up to 3266 x 2449 pixels. It comes with other features and a very bright dual-LED flash to help take photos in dark places.

Record videos of 720 pixels at 30 frames per second, while the 2MP selfie camera comes with a LED flash as well for night selfies and video calls.

Battery

Powering the Bravis A553 Discovery is a 2500mAh removable Li-Ion battery with no fast charging technology support. It shouldn’t take more than 2.2 hours to charge up the battery.
