Acer makes great laptops but what I don’t perfectly understand is the fact that most Acer laptops in the market comes very affordable. For instance, the Acer Aspire R14 which can proudly boasts of an Elegant style; Strong overall performance; Very good battery life; Powerful audio, and much more sells for around N80.000.
Packing a long battery life, powerful speakers and 6th-generation Core i5 processor, the 14-inch Acer Aspire R 14 (starting at $430, reviewed at $700) has all of the makings of a great notebook. The only petition I have against it is that the keyboard doesn’t feel much comfortable when typing out long articles.
THE DESIGN
Few words that describes the Acer Aspire R14 include stylish, classy, add yours. Enveloped in a black, brushed-metal aluminum lid and silver, diamond-cut edges, the Aspire R 14 is sleek and sophisticated. A thin plastic strip runs across the top of the lid, but it’s so slight and dark that it doesn’t attract any attention. The notebook’s touchpad has a sparkling finish that gives it the look of a clear and starry night’s sky. I didn’t know I was going to be this impressed when I first saw this 2-in-1 notebook on screen.
GENERAL PERFORMANCE
If all you need is just a tablet-pc for basic multitasking then you should have no problem with the Aspire R14.. Powered by a 2.3-GHz Intel Core i5-6200U processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage, the Aspire R 14 has enough performance to support a significant amount of multitasking. With MS Paint, Candy Crush Saga, the Windows camera, and a full system scan by McAfee running in the background plus 8 tabs opened in Google Chrome the R14 suffered no lag at all. My little disappointment is how dim the screen of the laptop is.
THE PRICE
The Acer Aspire R14 starts at N80.000 in Nigeria.
