The Coolpad Cool Play 7 has been launched in China as the latest addition to the Cool Play flagship series from Coolpad. This is an update to the Cool Play 6 which was introduced in India couple of months ago.
The device sports the trending notched screen and a uniquely positioned dual rear cameras. There’s 4GB RAM and 64GB storage space, ideally for heavy users on a budget. Lets see what else the Cool Play 7 has to offer.
Design
The device sports an aluminum alloy back and Metal frame, this makes the device look premium as well as attractive. There’s a rear fingerprint scanner in the usual position which guarantees quick to the device.
A uniquely positioned dual rear cameras and a dual-LED flash is present at the top left corner. More like an iPhone X-like cameras in a horizontal position. It measures 8.8mm in thickness and weighs 199g overall.
Display
This is the first smartphone from the company that comes with notch display. The screen dishes out a 19:9 aspect ratio, while the notch houses the selfie camera, sensors and others.
It’s built around a 5.85-inch HD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, which boasts of 1512 x 720 pixels in resolution and 286 pixel per inch density. Thanks to the notch, it stretches up to 77.57% screen-to-body.
Hardware and Software
The MediaTek MT6750 chip sits behind the wheel, the chip was manufactured on a 28nm process technology. It has 8-cores of processor reaching a smooth speed of 1.5GHz. While the ARM Mali-T860 MP2 graphics processor comes with 4-cores and clocks at 520MHz.
For multitasking, there’s 4GB RAM space available for multitasking, it reaches a memory speed of 667MHz. In the storage department, it is 64GB strong and expandable up to 128GB. The Cool Play 7 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with CoolUI.
Camera
The device is equipped with dual 13MP + 2MP rear shooters for photography. The 13MP main shooter has f/2.2 aperture, there’s a LED flash in-between the cameras as well. The 8MP selfie shooter on the notch has f/2.2 aperture as well.
Battery
Powering the Coolpad Cool Play 7 is a 2800mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with fast charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 1.8 hours.
