COVID-19 Alert App may not be Working on your iPhone

Having a COVID-19 alert app on your Apple smartphone is very good but the app may not be working as it should. A new report says that a health organization in Canada found out the app is affected by a bug of some sort. That affects the notification capacity of the software.

When an app like this malfunctions, it means either the user gets no notifications at all, or the message shown on the phone screen could be wrong. Federal authorities have sounded an alarm but not a great number of iPhone users have gotten the problem solved. The common thing with iPhone users is that they have no notifications.

The problem persisted throughout last month, and as the report revealed, it may be peculiar to only Canadian users. There is no information of this sort coming out for users in other countries. Some Android users also had the problem on their devices but now it seems that it is no longer a challenge for Android phone owners. The problem still persists on Apple phones.

The agency responsible for the development of the app said an update came to the app on the 23rd of November, which means that by now, most iPhone users ought to have their COVID-19 alert notifications working fine.

The snag, according to health authorities is that some people who had COVID symptoms may not have gotten the alert for them to seek medical assistance, testing, or isolation in a timely manner.

The app is designed to take note when two users spend at least 15 minutes less than two meters apart from each other. If one tests positive for COVID-19, he or she could use the app to anonymously notify contacts of potential exposure.

As far as the notification issue is concerned, there is no timeline for the issue to be resolved. As regards getting to know how many iPhones are involved, health officials claim that built-in privacy features prevent them from knowing.
