How To Create A Website In 6 Easy Steps

You have just stumbled upon a beginner-friendly site that will teach you the basics to create your excellent website.

Moreover, what’s even wonderful in it is that there is no web design or technical experience needed unless you want to learn the basics of HTML, CSS, PHP, jQuery, etc.

In this article, I am going to give you the steps on creating a website with no much ado.

1. Your Domain Name (e.g. “TechVaz.com”)

Your domain name is just like the ID or home of your website. At this stage, you need to take out your time to think of a creative domain name that you will choose. Make sure that the domain name is similar to your future website niche

Also, try to choose a name that is short enough so you can get matching usernames for Twitter, YouTube and other Social Media accounts. I recommend Godaddy, 1and1 and NameCheap for your domain names! These are the best and safest place to purchase domain names.

 2. Select Your Web Hosting Company

The web host is the company that shelters your site and provides you with the space you needed to create web pages or any scripts you can install, security and so much more!

Hosting companies can overwhelm you with their features, but the majority of them offer the same services. Always start with the cheapest monthly plan because upgrading later is very easy. I recommend NameCheap for cheap hosting and InmotionHosting.com for a reliable hosting. NameCheap is one of the most affordable hosting company for you (especially for beginners).

3. Start Building!

The way you create your website will depend on the kind of website you want to run. For instance, if you want to create a blog, you can take advantage of the built-in templates that come with the blogging platform, e.g., WordPress or Blogger.

No coding experience is necessary for these blogging platforms. All you have to do is to search for the theme you want to use, activate it, make your customization and your website will be ready.

4. What Kind of Site Do You Want?

There are so many different types of websites you can create. e.g.  E-commerce, Technology, Entertainment, Information and News, etc. you can Google and find out the best niche you can manage. What I mean here by “manage” is the niche that you are good in and will be convenient for you to run.

5. Consider Creating a Good Niche Website

Niche websites are websites that focus on one niche. So, instead of making a website about many things like technology, information and news, entertainment, etc. all in one website, you can choose only one. Know that if you focus on one niche, you website will look mature that will make people come in for a particular purpose.

6. Dynamic Websites and Static HTML

There are two kinds of websites you can create.

  1. Static HTML: Contents are uploaded and displayed “as is
  2. Dynamic – (e.g. Blogger, WordPress, Joomla, etc.) Dynamic means information is pulled from a database so that you can display your website content by category, date, etc.

Static HTML sites are not that popular these days because to create them; you will have to learn HTML, use templates or buy some software like Dreamweaver, Frontpage, etc.

In 2004, WordPress revolutionised the way we build websites because there is no software to buy. You only install the WordPress script from your web host, launch the admin panel, choose a theme design and begin to write your content.

Because WordPress is dynamic, you can add functionality using WordPress plugins. These are scripts that you need to install to help you do so many things. You do not have to spend time uploading complex scripts just to add something like shopping carts, comments, security, captcha, and all other kinds of functionality to your website.
