eBay bans all masks and hand sanitizers

The coronavirus outbreak outside China has led to a sharp rise in the prices of certain goods. Now and according to recent reports, eBay has announced a total ban on the sale of masks, hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes in order to intensify efforts to suppress online price increases. This policy is already in effect in the United States.

eBay bans all masks and hand sanitizers

The new policy was described in a notice sent to sellers last Friday. Applies to new and existing products. eBay says it is removing existing masks, hand sanitizers and hygienic cleaning products, as well as descriptions with “coronavirus” (coronavirus), “COVID-19” (coronavirus disease 2019) and “2019nCoV” (2019 new coronavirus) and other common epidemic words.

“We will continue to follow developments and will immediately remove any items (except books) in the title or description that involve coronavirus, coronavirus disease 2019 and new coronavirus 2019. Price increases violate U.S. laws and regulations and US policies. eBay.”

Since the end of January, prices for COVID-19-related health and hygiene products have skyrocketed, especially on sites like Amazon and eBay. These sites allow third-party sellers to list and sell their products. According to reports, eBay has removed more than 20,000 items because these stores are feeding on public panic.

In fact, it is an excellent measure on eBay’s part. The idea, in fact, is to prevent them from taking advantage of users. Because of the hysteria, we are experiencing, in some cases, very high prices are being charged.

Regarding the issue of price increases on third-party platforms, Amazon’s measures are relatively less severe. The company is rapidly removing high-priced hand sanitizers and masks. However, Amazon does not have a total ban on these products. Which method do you think is better? eBay or Amazon?
