I suspect this problem could occur as a result of poor Wi-Fi connection. However, I do not rule on the possibility of a few other causes such as faulty Bluetooth connection.

Solution #1 – Check Your Wi-Fi Connection

HomePod requires your local Wi-Fi connection to work. Make sure that your Wi-Fi connection is working properly.

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Next, tap on “Wi-Fi’ and then toggle off the switch next to Wi-Fi.
  3. Now, you need to wait for a few seconds and then check out if it is working effectively or not.

If the internet of the devices still isn’t working, remove the Wi-Fi network, restart your device and then connect to the network again.

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap on “Wi-Fi” and then tap on the ‘i’ button next to the Wi-Fi network.

HomePod needs Bluetooth to be able to communicate with your iPhone or iPad. As such, you should try turning the Bluetooth of your iOS device ON/OFF. Follow the steps below:

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Next, tap on Bluetooth and then toggle off the switch next to Bluetooth.
  3. Now, you need to wait for some time before you turn the Bluetooth back on.

Now, try setting up your HomePod. If you are able to complete the process successfully, great! If you are still facing the issue, proceed to the next solution below.

Solution #3 – Reset HomePod Manually

You should reset the HomePod manually. To do so, follow the steps below.

  1. Unplug the speaker and then plug it back in.
  2. Next, press and hold on the top of the speaker. Key it pressed until you hear three beeps.

Once you have manually reset your speaker, you should no longer experience any issue setting it up.
