The Samsung Galaxy A80, also known as Samsung Galaxy A90, is one of the best mid-range phones you can buy. It works with the latest version of Android and has powerful hardware specifications. If your Galaxy A80 doesn’t turn on and you don’t know why find out how to solve it by following our suggestions below.

How to solve Galaxy A80 does not turn on

Troubleshooting a Galaxy A80 that doesn’t turn on requires a series of steps to take. Here are the things you can do to solve the problem.

Charge your Galaxy A80

One of the common reasons for this problem has to do with recharging. Some Android users may not realize that you need to charge your device before turning it back on. Be sure to charge your Galaxy A80 for at least 30 minutes before trying to turn it back on.

This should be enough to recharge the battery. When charging, be sure not to switch the phone back on to allow charging without interruption.

Galaxy A80 how to perform software recovery

All Samsung devices with power problems can benefit from a reboot. Even in this extreme case, you cannot skip this simple solution. Here’s what you need to do- hold down the Volume down button and the power button at the same time for 10 seconds or until the device screen turns on.

If that doesn’t change anything, you can then try these steps:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button first and do not release it.
  2. Press and hold the power button.
  3. Hold down both keys for at least 10 seconds.

Galaxy A80 confirms that the charging accessories work

There may be a problem with the current charging set and adapter. The USB cable supplied with Samsung devices is composed of small wires inside. If these wires have broken, recharging may not occur as there is not enough energy to be transferred to the battery.

To check if this is the case, charge the phone using a new set of cables and adapter. If you see any obvious signs of physical damage to the cable or USB adapter, consider getting a new one.

Make sure you use official Samsung accessories for this troubleshooting. Sometimes, third-party accessories may be of inferior quality or fail to meet the minimum requirements set by Samsung. This can lead to irregular charging.

If you can’t get a new cable and a new adapter promptly, go to an electronics store and try charging your device using their accessories. If your Galaxy A80 recharges properly, consider buying new accessories.

Galaxy A80 controls the charging port

Another common reason why a Galaxy device does not turn on is the lack of power and it is because there is something in the charging port that prevents it from being recharged. This can sometimes happen if one of the following conditions occurs:

  • There is dirt or foreign objects blocking the cable
  • There is damage in the charging port system
  • The charging port is wet

Try checking the charging port using a magnifying tool, if possible. If you see that there is dirt, lint or foreign objects inside, this is probably why the battery is low. Once the battery is discharged, the device no longer charges normally because something prevents it or there could be damage to the charging port.

If you think there is dirt inside the door, use a can of compressed air to remove dirt or lint. Avoid using something hard or sharp inside to avoid damaging the system.

Although the Galaxy A80 does not have water protection like Samsung’s flagship phones, its charging port is relatively well protected from a small amount of moisture. If there is water or liquid in the door, the phone will not allow charging to avoid damaging the system.

Galaxy A80 checks for problems with the screen

If your Galaxy A80 doesn’t turn on yet, the next troubleshooting step is to find out if you have a problem with the screen. Many Android users usually confuse a broken screen problem with a power problem.

This often happens after dropping a device that is damaged on the screen. If the phone still emits a sound, it vibrates or shows LED lights although the screen remains black, it is a hardware malfunction of the screen only.

Try to force the phone to restart to see if this helps. If nothing changes, have the screen replaced by Samsung.

We would like to think that the cause of your problem is software. We don’t know exactly what happened to your phone before this problem occurred, but if it coincided after installing an app, it is possible that you have a problem with the app at hand.

To verify, restart your phone in safe mode and watch how it loads. In safe mode, it is not possible to run third-party apps or services. Therefore, if one of the third-party apps is responsible for the problem, the A80 should load normally in safe mode.

To start the device in safe mode:

  1. With the A80 turned off, hold down the power button beyond the model name screen.
  2. When “SAMSUNG” appears on the screen, release the power button.
  3. Immediately after releasing the power button, press and hold the Volume down button.
  4. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device restarts.
  5. The safe mode will be displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen.
  6. Release the Volume down key when you see the safe mode.

If your Galaxy A80 turns on correctly in safe mode, it means that a third-party app prevents it from turning back on. To identify which of your apps is causing the problem, follow these steps:

  1. Start in safe mode.
  2. Check the problem.
  3. After confirming that it is the fault of a third-party app, you can start uninstalling the apps individually. We advise you to start with the most recent ones you’ve added.
  4. After uninstalling an app, restart the phone in normal mode and verify the problem.
  5. If the A80 still refuses to turn back on, repeat steps 1-4.

Galaxy A80 boot into recovery mode or download mode

Another possible reason why the A80 won’t turn on could have something to do with the Android operating system. Although rare, system-level updates or changes can sometimes cause serious coding problems that could prevent Android from starting properly.

This can occur in the event of a failure to reboot, a lock on the Samsung logo screen, or a failure to reboot after it has been turned off. If the cause of the problem is an error of the Android operating system, you should still be able to restart the device in other software environments such as recovery mode or download mode.

These startup modes are independent of Android and are used by Samsung technicians to diagnose software problems. To check if you have a problem with Android, consider starting your device.

If the phone starts in recovery mode, you may be able to resolve the problem by clearing the cache partition or performing a factory reset. In Download mode, the only thing you can do is reflash the software.

If you have never heard of the term install before or if you are not sure to do it yourself, you should ask a Samsung technician for help.

Here are ways to start recovery mode or download mode:

How to start a Galaxy A80 in recovery mode

  1. Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you will never be able to start recovery mode. If you cannot turn off the device regularly using the power button, wait until the phone battery is discharged. Then charge the phone for 30 minutes before starting recovery mode.
  2. Press and hold the Volume up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the power key.
  3. When the green Android logo appears, release all the buttons (“System update installation” will be displayed for about 30 – 60 seconds before displaying the Android system recovery menu options).

How to start a Galaxy A80 in download mode

  1. Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you can never start recovery mode. If you cannot turn off the device regularly using the power button, wait until the phone battery is discharged. Then charge the phone for 30 minutes before starting recovery mode.
  2. Press and hold the Volume down key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the power key.
  3. You will know if you are in download mode when you see a screen that says “Download …”.
  4. Remember, if the screen works in one of these modes, this is a clear sign that you have a problem with the Android operating system. Be sure to reset the device to factory settings in recovery mode to resolve it.
