At the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2017 at Bercelona, Gionee announced the Gionee A1 & A1 Plus, its latest devices to its collection.
The Chinese manufacturer seeks to deliver the best in both battery and camera departments with the release of these devices. Yes, we have always known Gionee to never disappoint when it comes to battery juice on its devices, these devices are not exceptions to such obligation either. Now let’s see what these devices are made of. Shall we?
GIONEE A1 & A1 PLUS SPECIFICATIONS, FEATURES and HIGHLIGHTS
DESIGN & DISPLAY
The Gionee A1 and A1 Plus both house Full HD (FHD) displays. Gionee A1 comes in a 5.5 inch screen size. The older brother, the A1 Plus is the bigger variant and the screen is 6 inched.
The screen resolution is perfect at 1920 x 1080 pixels. These devices have no other option but to produce high end images and views. Gionee also used the 2.5D glass on the A1 and A1 plus. The display is the bomb.
STORAGE and PROCESSOR
The processes of the Gionee A1 is powered by the Helio P 10 octa – core processor while the A1 Plus houses a more modern 64 -bit Helio P 25 octa – core processor with 2.5 GHz speed. A Mali – T 880 MP 4 GPU handles graphical processes on the A1 and A1 Plus.
Both the Gionee A1 and A1 Plus comes out of the box with 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal storage and microSD cards slot for storage expansion – up to 256GB. They also run the latest Android 7 .0 Nougat in conjunction with Gionee’s Amigo 4.0 UI.
CAMERA
On the A1, a 13 MP shooter was neatly placed on the rear of the device. A rather impressive 16 MP selfie camera sits comfortably beside the earpiece on the front too.
In contrast, the A1 Plus rocks a dual camera set up at the back. The set up is made of a 13 MP and a 5 MP shooter combo. On the front however, a 20 MP with LED flash exist. The 20MP selfie shooter can capture bright, natural looking selfies in almost any kind of lighting – low, mid and high.
Gionee seem to be all out to improve its users selfie experience. At launch, President of Gionee, William Lu confirmed it too. He said, “As a consumer-oriented smartphone manufacturer, we hope to set up the evolution of the selfie experience.”
Both the A1 and A1 Plus comes with LED flash on the front and rear.
There’s also a new and unique feature called “The bokeh-selfie mode” on the devices. According to Gionee, the bokeh-selfie mode would enable users to blur backgrounds while keeping the face in focus – resulting in artistic, studio-quality photos.
BATTERY
The A1 and A1 Plus battery capacity is a proof that Gionee isn’t deviating from it’s legacy of creating durable smartphones with long lasting battery life anytime soon.
The A1 is powered by a 4,010 mAh power pack while the A1 Plus has a bigger (only 540 mAh more though) and more powerful 4,550 mAh battery juice (only 540 mAh more than the A1 though). Gionee also incorporated ultra-fast charging technology into the A1 and A1 Plus smartphone.
PRICING
The Gionee A1 will cost EUR 349 (~$ 370 ) and it will go on sale from early March. The A1 Plus on the other hand will cost buyers EUR 499 (~$ 530 ).
VERDICT
With an ample display of 1080p resolution, Helio P Octa-core processor and 4GB RAM, the 5.5 and 6 inch Gionee A1 and A1 Plus are once again great high-end devices from the stables of Gionee. The Bokeh-selfie mode which enhances the cameras’ image focusing ability also makes these devices a sell!
