Google Maps gets another popular Waze feature!

After spending a lot of time in the background regarding its use for car travel, Google Maps is finally catching up with Waze. According to new information, you will be receiving one more of the popular features of the ‘rival’ application.

There have already been a number of features we’ve seen moved from Waze to Google Maps, and the latest one is one of the most popular. Google Maps is starting to show speed limits on all roads.

A few days ago, we saw the first signs that Maps would be receiving the warning functionality of speed cameras, this is also one of the most popular features of Waze.

Google Maps is finally catching up with Waze!

As we’ve mentioned several times in recent weeks, even though it’s a much more complete (and complex) application, Google Maps still can not compete with Waze when it’s time to travel by car.

The entire community created in Waze makes its social features extremely important to its users. Now, with some of these features also coming to Google Maps, the roles may begin to reverse.

As soon as road safety warnings and speed limit warnings are made available globally, just a simple feature will be missing to make the transition complete. In addition to these two features, Waze also presents (in real time) the speed at which you are moving. Coupled with speed limit warnings, it’s the perfect tool to avoid fines while traveling.

Since this is a pretty basic functionality to add, it does not seem like it will take much longer until Google finally decides to deploy it on Maps.

Is the end of Waze coming?

It is true that with the arrival of these features in Google Maps, Waze will no longer have its strongest arguments. However, this kind of functionality takes a long time to be really reliable and credible. Since it is based on user interaction.

On the other hand, even though they both have the same type of features, I think there will always be many users who prefer the ‘social’ aspect of Waze. So it seems to me unlikely that the Mountain View company will end Waze in the near future.
