This phone will be the successor of the Google Pixel 2 which means it comes with an upgrade both on the design and hardware. As you can see, the Pixel 3 is bigger and heavier than the later. Both phones are available in multiple colors and they have a body protection as well.

On the display, they both lack a notch, instead, you will get a narrow bezel and a large screen size of 5.5-inch with flexible OLED display panel and a screen resolution of 2,280×1,080 pixels coupled with 443ppi density on Pixel 3, while Google Pixel 2 also has a similar display size. It has a screen size of 5-inch with AMOLED display technology and a screen resolution of 1,920×1,080 pixels with 441ppi density.  Both phones are equipped with a corning gorilla glass 5 and they will offer a sharp display content to users, the Google Pixel 3, however, will deliver stunning viewing experience to users than it’s rival.

On the camera, both phones offer similar camera configuration as well. The Google Pixel 3 has a single rear camera of 12.2-megapixel which has been improved to take perfect low light photos making use of an algorithm to readjust the light settings.  The Pixel 2 has a single rear camera of 12-megapixel which will also take stunning low light photos as well and it’s powered by AI software. Both phones are capable of shooting 4K video quality and they have an LED flash as well.

On the front, the Google Pixel 3 has a dual front-facing camera of 8-megapixel, while the Pixel 2 has a single rear camera of 8-megapixel. Both phones have a top-notch camera, however, the Pixel 3 has a triple camera set-up which gives it an edge over the later.

The Google Pixel 3 has a bigger battery capacity of 2,915 mAh with both fast and wireless charging technology while Google Pixel 2 has a battery capacity of 2700 mAh with fast charging technology. On the price, the Google Pixel 3 official price is $799 for 64GB and $899 for 128GB memory, while the Google Pixel 2 is selling at a price of $649 for 64GB and $749 for 28GB memory.

Our Verdict:

It’s clear that the Google Pixel 3 has been upgraded in terms of camera and other features, but it doesn’t make the Google Pixel 2 a lesser phone. If you already own the Pixel 2 smartphone, there’s no reason to upgrade since they both offer the same hardware and software. The only area the Pixel 3 has an edge is on the display, front camera, wireless charging technology, and the OS where is powered by the latest Android 9.1 Pie while the Pixel 2 still carry the Android 8.1 Oreo but will soon get an update to the latest version.
