Google releases new cloud storage plans for more people; Google One

Google has a new name for its cloud storage service: Google One offers different plans and more features, such as family sharing. Consumers in the US can hire him from this Wednesday (15), and it will be offered in more countries “in the coming weeks”.

For now, the official page for some countries says only that “Google One is coming.” We still do not know the prices in reais, but they should be close to the amounts charged today – between $ 1.99 (per 100 GB) and $ 299.99 (for 30 TB).

US Drive subscribers have already been migrated to Google One in the past few months. Starting today, new customers will also be able to hire you. Here are the plans:

  • 15 GB: free
  • 100 GB: $ 1.99 per month
  • 200 GB: $ 2.99 per month
  • 2 TB: US $ 9.99 per month
  • 10 TB: US $ 99.99 per month
  • 20 TB: US $ 199.99 per month
  • 30 TB: US $ 299.99 per month

In these new plans, you can share your storage with up to five family members, and see how much space each one is consuming. (You will not have access to their files.) To do this, you need to open one.google.com or the Google One Android app, select the gear at the top, and choose “Share Google One with your family.”

Google also offers support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The specialists answer via chat, telephone, and email. The app and website, of course, include help articles to solve simpler problems.

Google One subscribers get some benefits like credit to buy apps in the Play Store; discounts on the Google Store, which sells the Pixel smartphone; and discount between 15% and 40% for hotels booked through the search.

Google One plans are very competitive in the US. Apple charges the same amounts on iCloud for its 200GB and 2TB plans. Dropbox is more expensive, selling 2 TB for $ 19.99 monthly. Meanwhile, OneDrive has a 1 TB plan with access to Microsoft Office for $ 6.99 a month.

We will know for sure in the coming weeks when One is released in more countries. It is worth remembering that this is the plan for consumers; the G Suite, which serves companies, has not changed.
