Haier G50 was released on the 12th of December 2017 as a budget smartphone for light users. The company released the L6 and L8, both midrange smartphones during that period as well. The company is really willing to dominate the smartphone market one step at a time.
The budget device focuses on those on a tight budget, and offers low specifications. But if you are a light user then you shouldn’t worry about the low-level specs. It packs 5MP rear camera, 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM among others. Want to know all? Well, lets dive in.
Design
A very simple back I must say, Haier should try to make their next budget smartphone more fun. Well, in terms of design I mean. It comes with no rear fingerprint scanner as only the rear camera and LED flash is at the back. Oh Haier of course claimed their territory with their logo at the back instead of the fingerprint scanner.
There’s also a rear loudspeaker at the bottom left corner if you look closely. Moving on the sides, the volume keys and power button are still in tact, as it measures 9.7 mm slim. Budget smartphones are known to come with bulky sides, so no surprises here. It weighs just 152g overall and the Plastic body is available in only Black.
Display
Bezels, bezels, bezels, even the narrow bezel came out to play on the G50. It sports three navigation buttons at the bottom bezel, while Haier occupies the top bezel again with their logo. To be honest, it’s really annoying when OEMs do this, we knew the phone was made by you from the back.
Anyways lets focus more on the screen now shall we? The 5-inch FWVGA IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen boasts of a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. The visuals are standard, it has 196 pixel per inch density for clear display. The multi-touch screen could only get to 65% screen to body ratio.
Hardware and Software
Under this affordable baby is a MediaTek MT6735P chipset with 4-cores. The Quad-core processor clocks at just 1.0 GHz for a smooth ride, with a 32-bit CPU architecture and 28nm process technology. Handling the graphics sector is the ARM Mali-T720 MP4 graphics processor with a single core and clocks at 400 MHz.
Multitask through light apps only with just 1GB RAM, the RAM space boasts of 533 MHz memory speed. For storage, a standard 8GB internal storage space is available. If that isn’t enough, you can upgrade up to 32GB using a Memory card. The G50 runs smoothly on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with modified user interface.
Camera
The 5MP rear shooter captures 2K resolution images, with photographs dimension as high as 2592 x 1944 pixels. The camera comes with other features and a LED flash by the side. The LED flash helps capture cute images in low light environment. Take cute selfies as well with the 2MP selfie camera and record videos of 720 pixels at 30 frames per second. The selfie camera comes with a LED flash for late night video calling and selfies in a nightclub.
Battery
Powering the Haier G50 up is a 2000mAh removable Li-Ion battery with no fast charging technology support.
