Haier G8 was released by tech giant Haier on the 3rd of February, the company are famous for their strong electrical appliances. The company is focusing on how to dominate the smartphone market, after releasing the L6 and L8 smartphones. The new device from Haier is very affordable and targets those on a budget. Design
A beautiful device it is, with a unique twist. It was made from Plastic and sports two different design from the back. The lower part looks more smooth with nice feel while holding it. While the top part has lines that looks rough and it houses rear camera.
There’s a dual-LED flash underneath for bright photos in low light environment. It measures 8.5 mm slim by the side and weighs 135g overall. No fingerprint scanner at the back which is really disappointing, when most budget smartphones are coming with the feature. The device is available in Black, White and Blue colors as well.
Display
It’s a budget smartphone so bezels are present of course, although the narrow bezels is at least very tiny. Three navigation buttons are present at the bottom bezel, while the top bezel houses the selfie camera, ambient light sensor and front LED flash.
This proves the device doesn’t come with a fingerprint scanner. The 5-inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen screen boasts of 1280 x 720 pixels in resolution and 294 pixel per inch density. Additionally, the multi-touch screen got up to 68.46% screen to body ratio which is so 2015.
Hardware and Software
Doing all the work underneath is the MediaTek MT6737M chipset with Quad-Core processor. The processor can only reach a maximum speed of 1.25GHz with 64-bit CPU architecture and 28nm process technology. In terms of graphics, the ARM Mali-T720 MP4 with a single core is fully in charge, reaching a clock speed of 550 MHz.
For multitasking, it comes with just 1GB of RAM with 640 MHz memory speed for light multitasking. In the storage department, 16GB internal storage is available to accommodate all your files and games. You can also upgrade up to 32GB with a memory card. The G8 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat operating system with modified user interface.
Camera
At the back, there’s an 8MP rear camera with dual-LED flash underneath for capturing 3K resolution images. With the G8 you can take photographs that boasts of 3264 x 2448 pixels in resolution. For selfies, it comes with another 8MP selfie camera at the top bezel with LED flash as well. Record videos of 720 pixels at 30 frames per second.
Battery
Powering the Haier G8 is a 2500mAh removable Li-Po battery with no fast charging technology support. Without the feature, you can still charge up the device from 0% to 100% between 2-3 hours.
