Despite the fact that this Homtom R17 product is a 3G Android phone, it berths with some good qualities. Especially is this so at the display department where we see good resolution delivery for this Homtom phone.
As at the time of this review, Homtom R17 is relatively new. It was delivered into the smartphone market in the month of December 2018 with not so many reviews pouring in on it. That does not mean that this is not a right for anyone. The features below tell us what the Homtom R17 is truly worth.
Homtom R17 Design and Display
This Homtom R17 mobile phone arrives in a plastic body design. The dimensions are 154 x 75 x 8.8 mm and its weight specification is not specified. It comes in only one color – blue. But note, this phone does not have waterproof protection whatsoever, no fingerprint scanner, but there is face recognition technology in-built.
Going further, it is a 5.72 inches screen of IPS LCD capacitive multi-touch screen phone, which comes without a secondary display but with display protection. Further, it sports 1280 x 640 pixels of screen resolution. Furthermore, other features are 18:9 aspect ratio, 73.5 percent screen to body ratio, 16 million colors, and pixel density is 250 ppi.
Camera Features
There is a primary rear camera setup of 2 MP interpolated up to 5 MP that comes with dual LED flash and FHD video recording. Additionally, at the front the single selfie camera is 2 MP which comes also with LED flash. However, the video performance is 1080p.
The camera features in the phone are as follows- Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, auto focus, HDR, and others.
Hardware & Software
Homtom R17 also sports Android OS v6.0 as its operating system in control. In addition to that, it comes with MediaTek MT6580 chipset which has 28nm process technology and 32-bit architecture. Moreover, CPU is 1.3 GHz Quad-core, and the GPU is Mali 400 MP2.
Storage Capacity and Sensors
In this device, there is 1GB of RAM and this cannot be increased. That is followed by the internal storage of 4GB which can be increased with a micro-SD card up to 32GB. There are three sensors here in the form of accelerometer, proximity, and light.
Network and Connectivity
This phone is supported by GSM and HSPA. So the user has 2G and 3G available for internet connectivity. This makes this phone a 3G compliant mobile device that has dual micro SIM card slot.
As expected, network support items are Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi, mobile hotspot, GPS, A-GPS, headphone jack and micro USB 2.0. Actually, there is no infrared, NFC or HDMI in the Homtom R17.
Battery Life Homtom R17
Powering this device is a good Li-Ion 2200 mAh removable battery that does not have wireless charging and no fast charging technology. Talk time and standby time are not specified.
