How to Arrange Apps in Your Apple Watch’s Dock By Recents or Favourites
The Dock makes apps switching on Apple Watch plain sailing as you can jump from one recently used app to another with much ease. Though it makes switching between the most recently opened apps dead simple, trying to open an app which you haven’t opened for a while will prove to be quite inconvenient. watchOS 4 or later has a better way you can use to organize apps in the Apple Watch’s Dock; you can choose to arrange them either by Recents or Favourites.
watchOS 4 lets you customize the way apps are arranged in the Dock between displaying your most recently used app and your favourite apps. Read on to learn how it is done.

How To Organize Apps In Your Apple Watch’s Dock By Recents Or Favorites
Follow the steps below to organize apps in your Apple Watch’s Dock by Recents or Favourites.
Step #1. Open the Watch app on your paired iPhone and then tap on My Watch tab at the bottom of the screen.
Launch Watch app on iPhone and then select My Watch tab
Step #2. Next, tap on Dock.
Step #3. Now, you need to tap on your preferred Dock arrangement located under the Dock Ordering heading.
Tap on Dock and Select Preferred Apple Watch Dock Arrangement
- Recent – If you select this option, it will allow Dock to display up to 10 of your recently opened apps.
- Favourites – If you select this option, it will make the Dock display only your favourite apps.
In case you have selected less than 10 apps for the Favourites view, the dock will show up all of your favourite apps and a shortcut at the top of the list that you can use to quickly access the most recently opened app on your Apple Watch.
If you want to edit the arrangement of apps in Favourites view, tap on the Edit button at the top right corner of the screen. Next, tap on the plus button on the left side of it to add an app to the list.

A Favourites view compromising less than 10 apps also allows you to include the most recently used app in the Dock.
You also have an option to add the Now Playing screen as a shortcut in the Favourites view.
Play a song on your paired iPhone and then open the Dock on your Apple Watch (simply press the side button). Next, go to the top and then tap on the “Keep in Dock” button which is right below the Now Playing tile.
If the app which you most recently opened is not among your favourites, navigate to the top of the Dock and then tap on the Keep in Dock option.
That is all there is to it!
