Not a lot of people know this but you can actually change Google assistant accent in Android 9 pie. Although this first came to Android 9 Pie, it is gradually making its way to other Android versions, including Android 8.0, 70 and 6.0. If your Android devices are running on any of the following OS then chances are, you already have the feature or yet to receive it. Google assistant is by far one of the best assistant out there and is downright my favourite. It mostly comes pre-installed on most, if not all Android phones and it is always ready to help.
With the new list of Google assistant accents, you can actually choose the voice of your own assistant. The accents includes both different males and females accent to choose as opposed to the single, female only accent we are already used to. The different accents now available on the Google assistant, from soft female voices to deep male voices are all computer generated. However, I’ll have to say they all sound pretty amazing for a computer generated voice. I’m having a difficult time choosing from all of the good voices available.
How To Change Google Assistant Accent In Android 9 Pie
The procedure involved in changing the Google assistant accent is pretty the same across the Android versions that Supports it. From Android 9.0 to 8.0 to 7.0 and 6.0. The procedures are all the same but first, you’ll have to make sure your Google assistant is up-to-date. You check on the Google play store. If it isn’t, then you’ll need to update. If yours is already updated, then you can follow the steps below.
– Launch the Google assistant by long pressing on the home button and Tap the Explore button (Compass looking icon) at the top right corner side of the Google assistant window.
– Doing that will take you to the explore page, when you get there, Click om the three dots at the top right side of the screen and select Settings from the drop down menu.
– Tap on Preferences and Select Assistant Voice.
– From here, you can choice from the available 8 voice, often represented with different colours. You can tap on each one to listen to a preview of each of the voices before settling on a new voice accent choice for your Google assistant.
You should also know that the option to change settings on your Google assistant might be available depending on which language you’re using in your Google assistant settings. I’m using English and i have the option and I’m pretty sure that if you are too, then you’ll have the option to change the voice accent too. Can’t say for other languages though, but you can give it a try using the method above.
