How to Change Playback Speed on Netflix App

Netflix’s platform gives subscribers access to stream high-quality video content to devices such as TVs, smartphones, tablets, and computers. When a user selects a movie or TV show on Netflix, the video is streamed to their device using adaptive streaming technology, which means the quality of the video is adjusted based on the strength of the user’s internet connection.

Netflix supports several video playback resolutions, including SD (standard definition), HD (high definition), and 4K (ultra-high definition), depending on the device and internet speed. The platform also supports HDR (high dynamic range) video, which enhances the brightness and color accuracy of the content.

Furthermore, Netflix uses a combination of codecs to encode its video content, including H.264, H.265 (also known as HEVC), and AV1. These codecs help to compress the video data without losing too much quality, making it possible to stream high-quality video over the internet. It also offers several features to enhance the video playback experience, such as the ability to select subtitles and audio languages, and to adjust the playback speed. Users can also create multiple profiles within a single account, allowing each user to have their own customized viewing experience.

Netflix has introduced the ability to change the playback speed on smartphones, thus allowing you to adjust the speed of a TV series or movie on smartphones or tablet devices.

How to change playback speed in Netflix on Smart devices

Netflix allows you to choose the speed at which you want to watch movies or TV series on phones or tablets, just press the new ‘speed’ button on the bottom left of the player controls, then you can choose the playback speed you want from the options provided: 0.5x, 0.75x, 1.0x (normal speed), 1.25x, 1.5x, or 2.0x.

The video playback speed will immediately change to the speed you selected.

Options above 1x are for speeding up playback, and below 1x for slowing playback. The ‘1x’ option equals normal speed and is the default.

Note that changing the playback speed may affect the quality of the audio and video, especially at faster speeds. Also, not all content on Netflix may be available for playback at higher speeds, as this depends on the rights granted by the content owners.
