What is Samsung Smart Call?

Samsung Smart Call (also Known as Smart Call and Hiya) identifies and notifies you of spam/Spoof calls. Samsung calls its own version the Smart Call which doesn’t come activated out of the box but you can turn it on if you want. This Samsung Smart Call comes pre-installed on the Dialer/Phone App in the following Samsung Devices; Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, S7 active, S8, S8+ S8 active and The Note 8.

However, if you use any of the older Samsung phones or any other phone that isn’t listed above. You can simply Download the Hiya App from the Google play store which basically does the same thing.

The Samsung Smart Call utilizes the Hiya Database for detection of Spam Calls/Callers. Once turned on, it immediately swings into action. Now, the Smart Call Feature doesn’t identify all spam calls but it has more than 60% success rate. This is because it depends on other users like you to report suspected spam calls to update the database.

    • For the S9 I went to settings apps smart call and then cleared out the cache and data and then I was able to turn the app off after that and I haven’t had a problem since.

  3. When I toggle it off, does it turn off my caller id with my provider plan? Cos it seems to not give the any Caller ID when I do turn it off, making a call from my home phone. And when the setting is on, the Caller ID is wrong. I tried making a call from my home phone to different people and the name displayed all matched. (they’ve aren’t using the Smart service or Hiya)

  4. I have a Samsung s9 and my smart call is completely messed up and it will not let me disable it I toggle the switch over to off and it just all by itself turns it back on again and I keep getting the notifications that the app is not working. I need to find a way to get rid of this completely off my phone it is totally annoying when trying to make a phone call.
