How to Disable/Remove Reading List Feature from Google Chrome

The “Reading List” feature on Google Chrome is an easy way to save pages and articles so you can check them out later. However, if you do not like this feature and want to remove it, you can easily do this. This guide will show you how to disable and remove the Reading List feature on Google Chrome.

The Reading List feature on Google Chrome basically gives you a place to save web pages so you can read them later. The feature is similar to services like Pocket, except it is built right into the Chrome browser. If you use an iPhone or iPad, it is easier to ignore the feature if you are not interested. On desktop, however, the feature takes up.

How to Disable and Remove The Reading List Feature on Google Chrome

As of writing this article, Chrome does not have a stable way for you to remove the Reading List button. As such, we will have to use a Chrome “flag” to remove it. Although this method is not ideal, it gets the job done, and it is easy to do.

Warning- Features that are put behind Chrome flags are there for a reason. These features may be unstable; they can disappear without any signs and may negatively affect your browser’s experience. Enable flags at your own risk.

First off, launch the Google Chrome browser on your computer.

Next, type in “chrome://flags” in the address bar and then press the Enter key.

The browser will restart, and when it opens up again, you will no longer see the “Reading List” button in the Bookmarks bar.

The reading List will be removed.

If you would like to reenable the Reading List feature, all you need to do is go back to the Chrome flag and switch the drop-down back to “Default” or “Enabled.” That’s pretty much it!
