How to disable webcam and microphone on Windows 10

For the many privacy problems we have today, we have decided to write an article on how to disable webcam and microphone on Windows 10. Piracy and privacy issues are common topics, especially due to privacy issues that are caused by connected devices such as speakers and other “harmless” gadgets.

Accustomed to this vicious circle we don’t think about it, but we have before our eyes a potential risk that should not be taken lightly- the presence of webcams and microphones integrated on our PCs.

If hackers are able to install adware, ransomware and other malicious software without our knowledge, they can also install software that can hack the webcam or microphone for non-intrusive use. In the living room, in the bedroom, in the kitchen or in the bathroom, they could recover or register us without our knowledge.

Some have found an easy solution regarding the webcam. It is sufficient, and it is advisable, to apply an opaque adhesive or to stick a sticker on the webcam. There is no need for major changes, so remember to put it back after each use and always have it at hand.

For the microphone, the solution adopted with the webcam does not work. In all cases, there is a software method to disable webcams and microphones directly through the PC. And it’s pretty simple.
