How to Enable and Use the Console in The Forest
While playing The Forest, you can enter cheats and console commands to pretty much change the entire game. You can enter more than a hundred commands in the game to change every little thing.
While some of the commands can make you invincible, some will destroy your game totally, likely making you start over again.
In this guide, we will show you how to enable the console in The Forest and some of the best and most useful console commands and cheats available.
How to Enable and Use the Console in The Forest
Before we can start entering commands and cheats, we need to enable the console in The Forest. To do so, go to the main menu where you can select a new game, options, etc. While on the main menu, type ‘developermodeon’.
You won’t see any indication that the console has been enabled. To check if it has been enabled, press F1 to see if it opens. If it does not work, you cn try again. You can also check the game settings to see if the chats have been enabled.
This will have to be repeated each time you open the game to enable the console. Now, you can go into your game and start using the console.

Below is a list of commands which you can enter into the console. When you input a command, it will say on. It also has an off variant. Certain commands cannot be reversed. As such, make sure you are careful. You can also check out The Forest wiki to check out a more detailed list of commands.
- killallenemies – This command will instantly kill all enemy cannibals and mutants, although they can respun at a later point.
- buildermode on – This will turn off Survival mode and enemies. It will also enable Godmode and build a hack.
- lightingtimeofdayoverride morning – This will change the time of day to morning, change morning to noon, sunset or night.
- save – This will instantly save the game.
- faststart on – This will skip the plane crash scene at the beginning of the game.
- timescale 0 – This will pause the game time. You can cancel this by pressing ESC twice.
- enemies on – This will enable or disable enemies in the game. Essentially vegan mode.
- godmode on – This will enable godmode which removes all survival features, immune to damage and makes your immortal.
- setdifficultymode peaceful – This will change the mode to peaceful. Alternatively, you can set it to normal, hard, hardsurvival, standard or creative.
- survival on – This will enable or disable survival mode, removing the urge to eat and drink.
- buildhack on – This command provides you with unlimited resources and allows you to build quicker.
- speedyrun on – This gives the player the ability to run super fast. However, you can take heavy damage and potentially die.
- forcerain sunny – This will change the weather to sunny.
- addallitems – This command will fill your inventory with every item in the game, except story items. To add story items too, use ‘addallstoryitems’.
- cutdowntrees 10 – Will cut down 10 trees, alternatively, you can use a different number or even percentages.
