How To Fix MX Player Pro “Unable To Validate Purchase” Error?

I recently tried to play a clip through MX Player and the app began to give me errors. It was its way of telling me it could not validate that I had bought the application legally from the Play Store. This made me shut down just as it prompted me to head to the Google Play Store to buy a license.

I checked MX Player’s list of solutions for “Purchase History Not Found” problems and none could solve the issue for me. I even uninstalled the app, hoping a reinstallation would rectify the issue but that even worsened the whole thing because it made the “Install” button disappear.

Fortunately for me though, I got in touch with the developer through the XDA Forum and the tips below helped to solve the problem:

How Can I Fix MX Player Pro “Unable To Validate Purchase” Error?

  1. Get the MX Player Pro uninstalled if you are yet to do that, then get rid of the Google account from which you bought the app. (Access Settings > Accounts > Google > Click on the account and Remove Account. On Xiaomi’s MIUI, head to Settings > Sync > Google > Click on account and Remove Account).
  2. On Xiaomi phones, just head to Settings, Manage Apps, Google Play Store. Click “Clear Data” and choose “Clear All Data.” Search for Google Play Services, click Clear Data > Manage Space > Clear All Data.
  3. For Vanilla Android phones, it could be Settings > Apps > Google Play Store > Storage > Clear Data. Remember to do same for Google Play Services > Manage Space > Clear All Data.
  4. Reboot your phone and then add the Google Account back on your phone again. This option will be visible at the bottom of the Settings > Accounts or Settings > Sync page.
  5. Head to the Play Store, switch accounts to the Google account you bought MX Player Pro from and then reinstallation can happen.
