In this article, we will see how to solve the problem on Android devices that show the message “This device has been reset. To proceed, log in to a Google account already synchronized with the device.” Resulting in an “Sign in using an owner account for this device” error message. The problem started to appear on Android devices with version 5.1 where the anti-theft mode was introduced and appears when you enter the Google account to access the smartphone but you change your password with the reset password function because for example you have forgotten which was and it was decided to use a new one.
The same problem with the message “This device has been reset. To proceed, log in to a Google account already synchronized with the device.“ May appear after a smartphone reset and a new Google account login email is used, different from the one that was used for access the first time ever that the newly purchased smartphone was accessed. The problem may therefore arise, even if you have purchased a used smartphone.
With the appearance of the message “This device has been reset. To proceed, log in to a Google account already synchronized with the device.“ It is practically impossible to use the smartphone and to eliminate the message that prevents access, the only solution is to wait 72 hours or enter the old password of the Google account if you were already logged in on your smartphone, you changed your Google password and then you made a Factory Reset, while if your smartphone had an active account and a Factory Reset was done before removing the protection of the device that creates the block, the only account that can be entered is the one before the reset (so if you have purchased a used smartphone, you must ask for email and password to access it, then change accounts with yours). The first case can therefore be solved with a small wait or by entering the old password, while the second is difficult to solve if you do not have the account with the password before the reset and in the latter case this anti-theft function is used for avoiding that if the phone is stolen, anyone can easily access it by entering a Gmail account. Obviously,
The protection that works on devices with Lollipop 5.1 and inserted on devices such as Samsung, for those who no longer want to find themselves with the message. The best solution is to flash an Android version earlier than 5.1, in fact with version 5.0 this protection is not available, therefore, in case of reset, password change and account, the problem will not occur anymore, but to do this, you must access the smartphone and to do this, you can bypass the block in this way:
- Take a suitable OTG cable for your device
- A USB stick better if formatted
- Download the .apk file Bypass Samsung Google Account Lock on your PC that you can download from this LINK (it also works on non-Samsung smartphones like LG Nexus etc., but not on all of them, you must test to see if it works)
Now you have everything you need to be able to activate the bypass for the screen that shows the message “This device has been reset. To proceed, log in to a Google account already synchronized with the device.“:
- After downloading the .apk file on the PC, you need to transfer it to the USB stick
- Then connect the USB stick to the OTG cable
- Turn on your smartphone until you reach the lock screen, where you are prompted to log in with a Google account already synchronized with the device.
- Now connect the OTG cable with the USB pen inserted to the smartphone socket
- Wait for the smartphone to recognize the USB stick and for the general message to appear indicating that a USB device has been inserted and if you want to change the write memory to which you will have to confirm with a YES (the OTG cable must be of excellent quality) Some users were unable to get the key to read after connecting because of the cable. In most cases, using a quality OTG cable solved every problem and the USB stick was read without problems.”
- Now the memory settings screen should open, where you should go to the APP item, then open it to be shown in the Settings-Applications Management
- Now you have to look for the general item Manager File / Archive / File Manager, then open it, scroll down and press Start.
- Once inside the archive, you need to select the USB stick, then open it and start the installation of the .apk file that was previously saved inside, from the name Bypass Samsung Google Account Lock. For the installation of the .apk file, permission will be required to install apps from unknown sources, in which case you can easily give permission or you will not be able to proceed with the installation and consequently you will not be able to act with the bypass
- At this point, being able to access the settings where the permission to install apps from unknown origins is required, it is possible to proceed with the reset to the factory status of the smartphone and it will also be possible to set up a new Google account and consequently you will be able to put your account, thus eliminating the old account that did not allow you to proceed with the access as to you unknown because the device, for example, was purchased used and the old owner did not want to give you or did not remember the access data of your account.
- When the device restarts, just put the new account and remember to disable the lock function that creates the message “This device has been reset. To proceed, log in to a Google account already synchronized with the device.“ If you no longer want to have this problem, or alternatively, as already mentioned, switch to a Lollipop 5.0 firmware.
For those who have difficulty in driving, here is the video where everything is explained step by step:
The message “This device has been reset. To proceed, log in to a Google account already synchronized with the device.” It also appears in the latest devices like the Samsung Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge, in this case, however, the block that appears after a factory reset can be circumvented even more easily and precisely in this way:
- After the reset, configure the access to the internet connection
- Now click on the link to use Google services until you reach the Android sharing menu
- Now you can access some system menus where you can start Chrome browser to download the QuickShortcutMaker app on your smartphone’s memory and install the Galaxy App Store to be able to start the File explorer
- The file explorer is used to navigate in the folders where QuickShortcutMaker was downloaded, then install it and consequently be able to access all the android menus, including Google account manager (password) that allows you to set up the new account, instead of using what was set previously for the reactivation block.
- Now going back all the pages with the appropriate back button and then following the procedure to go ahead you reach the data recovery screen where your new account will now be set
- At the end of the procedure, which lasts a few seconds, you will be able to access the Home, but a window will constantly be present to indicate the message with the object “Not signed in” which you will very easily eliminate by turning the Samsung Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge off and on again.
Also in this case, below you can see the video of the unlocking procedure explained in great detail:
If someone then has problems following these procedures, we recommend that the only solution is to bring the smartphone in assistance and possibly pay for the release.
