If your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus won’t turn on, you dont need to panic as there are a couple of things we could try out to help bring back the smartphone.

Finding out your device wont turn on for whatever reason is nothing short of a nightmare. The thought of losing all your files like pictures, videos, movies and most importantly the phone itself is enough to give one a mini heart attack. Just like reaching for a phone in your pocket and not being able to feel your phone being there.

Wont Turn On

Now, there are many reasons why your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 plus won’t come on. It might be because it is bricked, that is if you tried to root it and it failed. If you did then you would need to flash your ROM again. If you did not, then continue reading because this article is for you.

How To Fix Samsung Galaxy S9 And Galaxy S9 Plus won’t Turn On

We will have to start from the basics and work our way up.

  • Perform A Forced Restart – To do this, Press and Hold Your Volume down button and The Power Button Simultaneously for 10 seconds. The should turn on your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus. This is known as a Forced Restart because it is used to wake up unresponsive Samsung phones due to Firmware glitches or system crashes.

It is also used to perform a sort of like a battery pull on phones with non-removable batteries. So if doesn’t respond the first time, try it a couple more. On the off chance that it still doesn’t turn on, head on to the next step.

  • Plug In A Charger – Plugging in a charger will determine if the device is simply just low on battery and won’t turn because of that. If the battery is charging then let it charge up a bit and then try turning it on again using the first step. If the phone still doesn’t turn on, then it might be a problem with the software. See the next step.
  • Boot Into Recovery – Your next course of action should be to boot into recovery mode. To do this, press and hold the Bixby and volume up buttons, then press and hold the power button. Release the power button once the phone turns on (while still holding onto both the Bixby and volume up buttons). If it gets to the recovery mode, master reset your device and reboot it. This will wipe off everything on the smartphone but it should also fix it.

Still Not Turning On?

If after all these, your device still doesn’t turn then it might be a hardware defect. Taking it to a certified technician would be your best bet. You can also take it to a Samsung office for repairs or replacement if it is still within the warranty period.

  1. Thank you for this, i have an s9 plus, its a preorder device so naturally i have a mini heart attack anytime anything goes wrong with it, i did not know about the hard reset function, i went to send a text, but couldn’t as my network stopped responding, so i went to reboot, the power light changed to a blue/purple/green mix similar to this threads header, and would not shut off, the device did not restart, charger cable changed light to red as it should, then light went out when i disconnected it, but the device would not boot, did the hard reboot, and it came back online, not sure what caused the issue, i can only assume it was a system crash, but this thread got me back up and operational again in just a few minutes
