In the guide below, we will show you how to check for apps that are draining the battery life of your iPhone in iOS 12.

The new iOS 12 allows you to see more information in the Battery stats screen in the Settings app. You can now check data concerning your battery in the past 10 days. This means that you can now easily check which apps are draining the battery of your iPhone.

How to Identify Apps Draining iPhone Battery

Go to the Settings app and then tap on Battery. Here, you can browse around until you find the apps that are draining your iPhone’s battery. You can do this using percentage metric and the background activity stats.

  1. Select the Last 10 Days section and then tap on Show Battery Usage. The app displayed at the top is the one which has drained the battery the most in the last 10 days.
  2. You can also check the apps which have been the most active by switching to Show Activity options. If the app has been active very long and used a lot of energy, the background time stats will be displayed in hours.
  3. If you want to check the apps that have used the most battery in the last 24 hours, simply switch to the last 24 hours tab. The app displayed at the top is the one which has drained the battery the most in the last 24 hours.

Check the Google Photos option in the screenshot below. The app has used a lot of battery life by operating two hours in the background. Obviously, Google Photos is draining my battery unnecessarily by running in the background.

Simply go to the 24 hours section. On the Activity Graph, select the bar which corresponds the hour where your battery drained mysteriously. The app responsible for this will be at the top of the list.
