How to Register and Collect Your Nigerian National Identity Card (NIMC)

If you’re here then you definitely want to register and collect your Nigerian National identity Card. If you don’t already know, NIMC stands for National Identity Management which is a government body tasked with providing intending applicants with the National Identity Card after providing the necessary documents required to do so. The required documents are listed below.

  • Old National ID (If you have done the National Identity Card before then you can take that old one along with you as a form of identification. If you haven’t, than you bring any of the alternatives below.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Valid International Passport.
  • Voters Card.
  • Government Issued ID Card.

You don’t need all the means of identification listed above, all you need is just to have at least one of the ones listed above. If you have an Old National ID then you shouldn’t bother yourself about having the rest. If you also have, let’s say a Valid International Passport then you shouldn’t bother getting the rest. Once you have any of the above listed means of identification, you can now go ahead and get the remaining documents/details listed below.

  • State or Local Government of origin certificate.
  • Birth Certificate/Declaration Of Age.
  • Your height. (If you don’t know your height, don’t worry, it can be measured when you get to any of the NIMC office)

Once you have all the above documents then you’re ready to begin your enrollment. Simply follow the steps below.

How to Register and Collect Your Nigerian National Identity Card (NIMC)

  • Access to the Enrollment Form Page on the NIMC website.
  • Fill In the form with the correct details. When you are done filling the form, print out the summary sheet which will have a 2D barcode and your Registration Identification Number on it.
  • Locate and Visit NIMC enrollment center with the printed summary sheet and other documents where an enrollment officer will scan the barcode on the summary sheet provided by you.
  • After that, you will need to verify that the details are correct. Once you do that, your photograph, fingerprints and signature will all be captured.
  • Submit the other documents like birth certificate, state of origin certificate etch for scanning.
  • Next, you’ll be given two slips to acknowledge the successfully completion of your enrollment. These two slips are your Transaction Slip and NIN Slip.
  • The two slips is what will be used by you to collect your National ID Card when it is ready for collection.

  1. I register for national id since 2013, but i do not put a mobile phone number, because i did’t use it. Can i go and re register?
