How to restart iOS devices that do not respond to touch or freeze

Now all orthodox Android fans will be pleased and opponents of iOS devices will say – yes, even the iPhone or iPad can freeze (but this does not happen often), so it is good to know how to react in a given situation, respectively. solve it as soon as possible.

The key is to know that the iPhone was created as a single unit from the first model, from which it is not possible to remove the battery by the user – without service intervention. Resetting older devices with a removable battery was just beautiful (bye by Nokia). So this possibility is eliminated, ie if you do not explode and throw it on the ground. It will be “Fatalreset”.

Why am I writing about it? Because it can be useful to you, just like me a few hours ago, when I made an uncontrollable brick out of my iPhone that needed a hard restart – the iPhone didn’t respond to anything, it couldn’t be turned off in the usual way and it even managed to activate SOS mode. All wrong (beta tests bring some pitfalls). Please note in advance that you do not have to worry about the data, it is just a restart of the device, which will then turn on and everything will be as before, including the saved data.

How do I restart an iPhone/iPad that doesn’t respond to touch or just freezes?

It’s very simple, and the process itself depends on what model you own – with TouchID or FaceID.

  • Models with Face ID- Press and quickly release the volume up button. Press and quickly release the volume down key. Then press and hold the power button until the device restarts.
  • iPhone 8 or later- Press and quickly release the volume up button. Press and quickly release the volume down key. Finally, hold down the side button until the Apple logo appears.
  • iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPod touch (7th generation)- Hold down the top (or side) button along with the volume down button until the Apple logo appears.
  • iPad with Home button, iPhone 6s or older, and iPod touch (6th generation) or older- Hold down the Home button along with the top (or side) button for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

I believe that this tip will help you, although it is better not to need it.
