How to schedule sending emails to Outlook via Gmail
The first solution that we recommend to schedule the sending of an e-mail message to Outlook is to use Gmail, obviously if you have a Google account. Please note, however, that it is possible to do this procedure only through the Web application and not from the official app. Fortunately, you can overcome this problem by using the desktop version of the Google e-mail client by setting the appropriate mode from the settings of the browser used.
Having said that, the first step in making is to add the Outlook account to Gmail through the settings. Let’s see the steps to follow:
- Open the default browser on your PC (smartphone or tablet using the desktop mode), connect to the Web site of Gmail and log in to your Google account by entering the required credentials.
- At this point, click on the gear in the upper right corner and choose Settings from the menu displayed.
- In the next step, click on the Account and Import tab and click on the item Add another email address under Send message as.
- Now, through the window that appears ( Add another email address you own ), fill in the Name and Email address fields and click on Next step.
- After that, fill in the Password field by entering the protection key of your Microsoft account and confirm the addition by pressing the Add account button.
- Now, you will receive an e-mail message on your Outlook e-mail address which will contain a confirmation code to insert in the text field below under Insert and verify the confirmation code. Type it and press Check to continue. Alternatively, you can click directly on the link in the same message.
Once this operation is completed, you will have correctly added the Outlook account in Gmail and so now you are ready to use the function to postpone sending an e-mail. Let’s find out how to do it:
- Also at the Gmail Internet site, click on the Write button at the top left to bring up the New message window at the bottom right.
- After that, fill in the required fields paying attention to select the Outlook address from the drop-down menu of Da.
- Now, press the downward pointing arrow next to the Send button and choose Schedule Send from the menu shown.
- Now, through the window that opens, select one of the proposed options or click on Select date and time to set the preferred day and time. At the bottom left will appear a message confirming the sending scheduled for that day.
In case of second thoughts, you can cancel the sending or change the date and/or time by pressing the item In the program from the left sidebar. Once this is done, move the mouse pointer to the e-mail to be modified and click on the clock icon (Postpone). Through the menu that appears, select the desired option (eg Later today, Tomorrow or Later in the week).
As anticipated a little while ago, it is possible to carry out the same operations also from smartphones and tablets, always using the Gmail website but in desktop mode. For example, if you use Google Chrome, you can enable desktop mode by clicking on Desktop site/Request desktop site from the menu that appears after pressing on the 3 dots at the top right. If you use Mozilla Firefox, use the Desktop mode/Request desktop version option, always tapping on the 3 dots at the top right. Finally, in Safari you can enable desktop mode by first pressing on the square containing an upward-pointing arrow (sharing icon) and then choosing Request a desktop site from the gray icons.
How to schedule e-mail sending on Outlook via Boomerang
If you don’t want to follow the method listed above because for example, you don’t have a Google account available, then you can rely on the Boomerang add-on available for Outlook.
Among the various features offered, this add-on also allows you to send e-mails at the right time, planning them during the sending phase. The only flaw is that this add-on can only be installed on the Web version of Outlook and not on the app for smartphones and tablets. However, as seen for Gmail, you can take advantage of the desktop version of the email client from the desired browser by simply connecting to the Internet site.
Let’s see together all the steps to follow:
- Open your favorite Internet browser, log on to the web portal of Outlook and enter the login credentials to your account Microsoft.
- In the next step, press the + New message button at the top left to open the composition window.
- Now, to add the Boomerang add-on, click on the 3 horizontal dots at the bottom (next to the Send and Remove buttons ) and choose Download add-ons from the menu shown.
- Through the window that appears (Add-ons for Outlook), type the term boomerang in the search field at the top right and enter dates.
- At this point, to add the plugin to Outlook, you simply need to press the Add button.
- Now, click on the X in the upper right corner to close the window and fill in the various text fields with the appropriate information.
- Once the e-mail is complete, you can schedule its sending by pressing on the boomerang that appears at the bottom next to the 3 dots mentioned above and choosing Send Later from the menu shown.
- Then click on one of the proposed options (eg in 4 hours, tomorrow morning, tomorrow afternoon and so on) or choose custom… to set the preferred time and date using the bar that appears on the right side.
How to schedule the sending of email to Outlook via Later.io
Later.io is an online service (previously known as LetterMeLater) that allows you to postpone sending e-mails quickly and easily. We are facing one of the most used resources at this time and in addition, its functions are accessible in a completely free way.
Just like the two solutions seen a little while ago, Later.io allows you to schedule e-mail messages to be sent after a couple of hours, tomorrow, in a couple of months and so on. The only thing to take into consideration is that you will still provide the data of your Outlook account to a third-party service. Furthermore, an application for smartphones and tablets is not available, so you will have to use the Internet site.
Having said that, let’s take a look at the steps to follow:
- Open the default browser, connect to the Internet site of Later.io and click Sign up in the upper right corner to create a new account.
- Through the window that appears, fill in the required fields and press the Sign up button. Be sure to confirm the activation by pressing the Verify button in the received confirmation e-mail. We advise you not to create an account using Facebook and Google as Gmail or the one used to register on the social network will be used as an e-mail address.
- At this point, return to the main Later.io screen and click on the Compose button on the top left to compose a new e-mail.
- In the next step, make sure that the correct e-mail address is set in the From drop-down menu and enter the recipient’s e-mail address in the present field assigned to To (be careful and press Enter to add it correctly).
- Now, to postpone the sending of an e-mail, it is necessary to press on the Send drop-down menu and select Once (one time) or Recurring (several times).
- After that, use the various fields proposed to set the sending date and time. For example, if you want to send the message only once, set 1 in Every, select the date in Start date, and then set to 0 in place before time.
- Now, all you have to do is fill in the other fields (ie object and body of the text) and press on Commit to schedule the sending of e-mail.
In the case of second thoughts, you can change the e-mail message programmed through the All Emails section at any time.
