• You can only use HomePod, iPad, an Apple TV (3rd generation), Apple TV (4th generation) and Apple TV 4K to control your HomeKit accessories remotely.
• Make sure the device you use as a home hub is always in your home and it is connected to your home Wi-Fi network.
• You need to have a HomePod, an iPad, Apple TV (4th generation) or Apple TV 4K to change user permissions, create automation or stream HomeKit-enabled cameras remotely.

How to Set up HomePod As a Home Hub

When you set up your HomePod using your iOS device, the Siri-based speaker will automatically set itself as a home hub.

Make sure the iPhone or iPad you used to set up the smart speaker is signed in to iCloud. Also, make sure that you use the same Apple ID which you used to enable your HomeKit accessories in the Home app.

How to Set up Apple TV as a Home Hub

Step #1. First of all, you need to make sure that you have enabled two-factor authentication for your Apple ID and iCloud Keychain. (To do this, go to Settings on your iPhone or iPad -> Your Name -> iCloud -> KeyChain -> iCloud KeyChain.)

Step #2. On your Apple TV, launch the Setting app and then click on Accounts. Now, make sure that you are signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID you use on your iPhone or iPad.

Step #3. Once you have logged in to iCloud, your Apple TV will automatically set itself as a home hub.

Step #4. Next, tap on KeyChain and then toggle on the switch beside iCloud KeyChain.

Step #5. Go back to Settings and then tap on Home.

How to View the Status of Home Hub on iPad

Step #1. Launch the Home app on your iPad.

Step #2. Next, tap on the tiny arrow at the top left corner of the screen.

Step #3. Now, you need to look below Home Hubs to chrck if your home hub is connected.

If you have set p more than one home hub, only the primary home hub will be displayed as connected. Other home hus will be displayed as standby, and they will come into action only if the main hub is not connected.
