Dark mode is a function that turns the user interface of your device to a dark-colored theme. This is especially useful for when you use your device at night. In this guide, we will show you how to set your Android device to automatically enable Dark Mode at sunset.
Android first introduced system-wide dark mode when it released Android 10. All other Android versions that have followed have come with the feature. By system-wide, we mean that the dark theme is applied to all parts of the UI instead of just individual apps. What this means is that with a simple tap, you can set the entire UI of your Android device to a dark theme.
How to Set Your Android Device to Enable Dark Mode at Sunset
Although all Android devices running Android 10 or later come with dark mode, different devices involve different methods when it comes to enabling it. In this guide, we will show you how to enable this feature on a Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel device.
First off, open the status bar by swiping down from the top of the screen (once or twice depending on the phone or manufacturer).
Next, tap on the gear icon to go to the Settings app of your device.

Next up, tap on the “Display” option.

From this stage, things begin to look different depending on the device you are trying to do this on. On most devices, the feature is called “Dark Mode” but some others recognize it as “Dark Theme.” Some others recognize it as “Night Mode.”

To proceed, tap on the “Dark Theme” option if you are using a Google Pixel. If you are on a Samsung Galaxy device, you should see a “‘Dark Mode Settings” option. Tap on it.

Next, tap on the “Schedule” option.

From here, we can choose the “Turns on From Sunset to Sunrise” option. You can check it out from the screenshot below of how it looks on a Google Pixel.

If you are on a Samsung Galaxy device, the feature is named “Sunset to Sunrise.”

That is pretty much it! If you want all apps on your device to adapt to the automatic theme changing, you will have to search for a theme setting in the app. If the app comes with supports for system-wide Dark Mode, an option will be displayed for the Theme to adapt along with the system.

With this setting, once it is sunset, all the apps on your device that follow the system setting will adapt to dark mode. With this easy setting, you can save your eyes a lot of stress at night. Even better, once you have made the setting, you do not have to check it anymore.
