Grouped Notifications is one feature we have been waiting for on iOS since 2013, and finally, it has been introduced. This feature groups your notifications contextually. Apple has come with a new layer of smarts to what it thinks is the right context. This feature will make your iPhone group your notifications. Depending on some factors like the time of the day, the app in question, the number of notifications, your iPhone/iPad may change the context.
Although this feature is very useful, some users may not like it and want to turn it off. You can either change the grouped notifications behavior or disable the grouped notifications altogether.
How to Turn Off Grouped Notifications in iOS 12
- First off, launch the Settings app on your iOS device.
- Next up, tap on the Notifications option and then look for the app you wish to turn off Grouped Notifications for. Once you find it, tap on it.
- Now, you need to scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap on Notification Grouping.
- From this screen, you can disable Automatic.
Now, whenever you get notifications from the app, your iPhone/iPad will display them individually.
How to Turn Off Contextually Grouped Notifications in iOS 12
If you find any app on your iPhone/iPad to be grouping notifications weirdly, you can make the app show all notifications from the app in one stack. You can do this by going to the Notification Grouping section for the app and selecting the “By App” option instead of Off.
Tip – You can also disable notifications temporarily by using Deliver Quietly.
Since we are talking about managing notifications, I should also let you know of a new hidden feature in iOS 12. This feature is known as Deliver Quietly, and it can be found in the Notifications Tuning section. When this feature is activated, notifications from the app will go directly to the Notification Center. Your iOS device will not make any notification sound at all.
