Since your Roku is a connected device with an always-on internet connection, from time to time, it will have to check for software updates automatically without disturbing its usage as a device or interfering with viewing video.
Normally, Roku would check for updates once in 24 hours, and then downloading and installing changes in the background will occur. However, if you wish to check for updates manually, that can be done too.
