How To Use The Magnifier Feature On iPhone

At some point in your life, you might find your immediate environment increasingly hard to decipher, and using reading glasses alone does not really help. Except Sherlock Holmes is your mentor when it comes to your dress code, you most likely do not go about with a magnifying glass.

Luckily for you, there is a digital solution to this and that is your iPhone’s Magnifier feature. When you activate the Magnifier tool in your iOS device’s accessibility settings, you can zoom in on and magnify your environments by pointing your iPhone’s camera.

Apple adds an accessibility feature in iPhones and it is very important not only for those who have a visual impairment but also for tired eyes that struggle to read anything like a tiny print, especially in a not–so–bright light. It is so much better than just launching the camera application and zooming in to get a better view of something. See How To Use The Magnifier Feature On Your iPhone:

  • After activating the feature, you can tap your iOS device’s side button (iPhone X and later) or home button (iPhone 8 and earlier) thrice to open the Magnifier.

The Magnifier has several things it can help you see. Check some of them out below:

  1. The slider can be used to zoom in and out.
  2. Click Lightning bolt on the left to activate your flashlight.
  3. The lock icon will make sure the camera is focused and prevent it from auto-focusing.
  4. Clicking the big white button in the center will snap a temporary picture and freeze the picture on your display. Click this button one more time to remove the freeze-frame.
  5. Click the 3 overlapping circles to include a filter in your camera, or make adjustments to the brightness and saturation.

You are done.
