How to watch HBO for free (legally, of course)

At the beginning of summer, we posted that we can get 2 months of HBO for free. The truth is that it is a really tempting offer, since it has no hidden counterpart, and it is enough to have an active Paypal account to be able to take the cat to the water. The trouble is that, although they had promised that the promo would be active until October 15, it seems that they have thought better and have decided to turn off the faucet ahead of time. Therefore, it is time to look for alternatives.

Following in the wake of other similar articles such as “How to get Netflix for free”, in today’s post we are going to show you all the possibilities and tricks at our disposal to be able to watch free HBO for as long as possible. It should be clarified that we will focus only on legal “hacks”, leaving aside any pirate service or method. Let’s go there!

Trick # 1- Take advantage of the free trial month

Unlike Netflix, which puts and removes the free trial months indiscriminately, in HBO we can still take advantage of the first free month offered by the company for all new platform users.

This trial period can only be used once, although in principle we can replicate it whenever we use different email accounts and do not repeat the payment with the same Paypal card or account. For practical purposes, we could gain several months in this way using the data of our parents, partners or siblings (with their consent, of course). It may not reach us to complete the year, but we can certainly see a lot of complete series and movies if we mount it relatively well.

Note- At the end of the free trial month the system will automatically start charging you € 7.99 per month. To avoid surprises, it is advisable to cancel the subscription right after completing the registration (the trial month remains the same).

Trick # 2- Shared Accounts

Once the free trial periods are exhausted, you have to look for chestnuts. Lately, many websites are emerging that put people in touch to jointly pay for subscription to streaming services such as Spotify, Netflix or HBO. Personally I would not recommend the use of this type of services, since, although Netflix and HBO do not expressly prohibit this type of practice, they are in a rather dangerous gray limbo.

Simultaneous reproductions are designed to be able to share an account between members of the same family – not among strangers – and through several devices. In the case of HBO, the service offers 2 simultaneous reproductions, which means that we can talk with a family member and share expenses to have HBO in our respective homes at a more than reasonable price. It is not free, but it is the closest we will get to move within the strict legal framework, without unpleasant last-minute surprises.

Trick # 3- Check the free HBO offers of operators and companies in your country

Streaming platforms are on the rise, and that makes many operators and telephone, fiber and other companies offer some of these services for free. Well, “free” in quotes, because that is why we have to hire their services, but it can be a good deal if the balance of expenses comes to mind.

In Nigeria, for example, MTN offers free HBO within its offers for MTN TV, which include unlimited data and calls (100Mbps fiber) along with a subscription to HBO service and other channels With content on demand.

As for the other operators, such as Movistar, it seems that there is still no agreement to give offers of this type, at least for now.

One final tip- Try other streaming services

HBO has some of the best quality series of the moment and that is indisputable, but it is not the only streaming platform on the market. If we do not want to pay for a monthly subscription we can always vary and try other services such as Amazon Prime Video , SkyTV , RakutenTV or live and on-demand sports platforms such as DAZN. They all offer a free trial month, so we can chain several subscriptions and have a good season watching streaming content without spending money.
