HP EliteBook Folio 1020 Review – Good Performance But Expensive

The HP EliteBook Folio 1020 is a classic business laptop but with it’s amazing build quality it looks more like an Ultrabook than an office laptop.

Hardware

HP’s latest EliteBook is made from an aluminium and magnesium alloy, which feels solid and cool in the hand.
The excellent design is paired with even great build quality.

HP EliteBook Folio 1020 weighs 1.2kg and it is massively obvious HP’s design team took lots of  inspiration from the Apple MacBook Air.

Features

The EliteBook features a new Intel Core M processor, chip used inside this machine is the Core M-5Y51 which is clocked at 1.1GHz and  2.6GHz Turbo peak, and it has Intel’s new HD Graphics 5300 integrated GPU.

We have 256GB Samsung PM851 hard disk,  802.11ac wireless and Bluetooth 4.0. Gigabit Ethernet is only available through an adapter. A fingerprint reader is also present so as NFC, two USB 3 ports, a headphone jack and an HDMI output. A microSD slot is included, but there’s no slot for a full-size SD card.

Three years warranty from HP comes standard on purchase.

Battery life

According to HP the Intel Core M’s efficiency improves the battery life. HP has included only a four-cell 36Wh battery.

ASUS Zenbook UX410 - Features, Specs and Review

The HP EliteBook Folio 1020 can last up to 7hrs 28mins and could take you up to 8 hours maximum depending on your usage.

To get more than 8 hours on this laptop you will need to decrease the screen brightness massively to squeeze in some extra juice.

Performance

Performance is quite snappy and you hardly see the laptop lag through any activity you throw at it. Software seems very optimized for the processor and HP have done a good job.

Conclusion

The Folio looks and feels fantastic, performance seems to be on par with some of its rivals but for the price of almost half a million naira (N450, 000) I feel there are other cheaper options with greater value for money.
