Both phones also pack an impressive camera with a beautiful design that looks classic and elegant. The HTC Exodus 1 is built with the combination of Aluminium and glass. The phone back panel is covered with a glass and it features a dual rear camera and a fingerprint scanner.
On the sides area, it measures 73.95 mm x 156.62 mm x 9.69 mm in dimensions and weight 188 gram. The Asus Zenfone 5Z packs an Aluminium Alloy material with a smooth body that measures 75.6 mm x 158 mm x 7.7 mm in dimensions. The headset also has a fingerprint scanner with dual rear cameras and it’s available in Silver, and Blue colors while the HTV Exodus 1 is available in Blue color only. It’s only the HTC Exodus 1 that supports water and dust resistant rating.

The HTC Exodus 1 has a display screen size of 6.0 inches FHD+ under Super LCD 6 capacitive touchscreen with resolution of 1440 x 2880 Pixels and 537 PPI density, while the Asus Zenfone 5Z has a screen size of 6.2 inches under IPS, LCD capacitive touchscreen with resolution of 1080 x 2246 Pixels and 402 PPI density. Both phones have a 2.5D curved glass with a corning gorilla glass protection and they have a similar screen to body ratio.

Both phones have dual LED flash with other internal features. On the main camera, the HTC Exodus 1 will take better photos than the later. On the front, the HTC Exodus 1 has a dual front camera of 8 Megapixels + 8 Megapixels with f2.0 Aperture, Pixel size 1.12 μm, Face Recognition, Auto HDR, Panorama, Self-timer, OIS, and Wide-angle lens – 84 degree, while the Asus Zenfone 5X has a single front camera of 20.2 Megapixels with OmniVision OV8856 PureCel Sensor, F2.0 Aperture, 83 Degree Wide Angle Lens, and Face Recognition features. The HTC Exodus 1 is still winning on the selfies camera.

Noticeable on both phones is the presence of Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset which is the latest and they also have an 8-core processor that runs at the same speed of 2.8 GHz + 1.8 GHz respectively. They have the same Qualcomm Adreno 630 for graphics with 6GB RAM and internal memory of 128GB. The Asus Zenfone 5Z has a bigger model with 8GB and 256GB of inbuilt storage, with a smaller model with 64GB and 4GB of RAM and it also supports micro SD card for expansion. They are both powered by Android 8.0 Oreo operating system and they have support for 4G data.

The HTC Exodus 1 has a nonremovable battery capacity of 3500 mAh, while the Asus Zenfone 5Z has a nonremovable battery capacity of 3300 mAh. They both support fast charging technology. The HTC Exodus 1 will cost around $600, while the Asus Zenfone 5Z will start selling at a price of $450.

Our Verdict:

In terms of performance, both phones will offer the same experience to users. Although the HTC Exodus 1 support IP rating, in terms of overall design, the Asus Zenfone 5Z looks more amazing and beautiful than it’s rival.  Choosing the Asus Zenfone 5Z over the HTC Exodus 1 is not a bad idea, however considering their price tag is a wise decision.
