Huawei Honor 7C VS Huawei Honor 7A – budget-friendly phones under $300

Huawei Honor 7C VS Huawei Honor 7A – Honor budget-friendly smartphone under $300. Honor is a sub-brand of Chinese phone maker Huawei. They’re tasked with manufacturing affordable/budget smartphones for users, which we can agree they have done well in recent years. Their Honor 10 is challenging most premium smartphones out there in the market. In this article, we will be discussing their latest two budget-friendly smartphones; the Honor 7C and Honor 7A.

They both offer good specifications when you consider it comes under the $300 mark. The Huawei Honor 7C is a class higher than the Honor 7A according to Honor. But since they’re in the same price range, let’s see which one is truly the best.

Huawei Honor 7C VS Huawei Honor 7A – The Design

Both the Huawei Honor 7A and Honor 7C have an almost identical design. They feature the normal front glass and aluminum unibody you’ll find on most budget phones. They measure the same 7.8mm in thickness with the Honor 7C weighing 164 grams and the Honor 7A weighs 150 grams. The fingerprint sensor on the Honor 7A and Honor 7C is rear mounted. According to Honor, both phones will support face unlock smart via OTA (over the air).

The Huawei Honor 7A is available in three body colors option; Black, Gold, and Blue. While the Honor 7C is available in four body colors option; Black, Red, Gold, and Blue. They both feature a dual rear camera, which is aligned in a horizontal direction at the top left corner along with LED flash. Although there’s a Huawei Honor 7A version with just a single rear camera (market dependent).

Huawei Honor 7C VS Huawei Honor 7A – The Display

Despite being budget smartphones, the Honor 7C and Honor 7A are bezel-less with an 18:9 aspect ratio display. They both feature an IPS LCD touchscreen, which measures 5.99 inches on the Honor 7C and 5.7 inches on the Honor 7A. The display of both phones sports a 720 x 1440 pixels resolution. While the Honor 7A has a 282 PPI density and the Honor 7C with a 269 PPI density. There’s nothing special about the display of both phones to be honest. This is the normal display specs you’ll find on most budget phones in this price range.

Huawei Honor 7C VS Huawei Honor 7A – The Camera

The dual rear camera of the Honor 7A and Honor 7C features exactly the same specs. It includes a primary 13MP sensor, a secondary 2MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture, phase detection autofocus and LED flash. Up front, an 8MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash is featured on both the Honor 7A and Honor 7C. So far, the Honor 7A is really challenging the Honor 7C and I haven’t seen a big difference between them yet.

Huawei Honor 7C VS Huawei Honor 7A – Hardware and Software

The Huawei Honor 7C is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset coupled with Adreno 506 graphics processing unit. While the Honor 7A is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset with Adreno 505 graphics processing unit. The Snapdragon 450 chipset is more powerful than the Snapdragon 430 chipset.

Running on both the Honor 7C and Honor 7A is EMUI 8.0 skin, which is overlaid on top Android 8.0 Oreo. The Honor 7A comes in two memory variants of 2GB memory with 16GB or 32GB storage and 3GB memory with 32GB storage. While on the Honor 7C you get a 3GB memory with 32GB storage or a bigger 4GB memory with either 32GB or 64GB storage.

Huawei Honor 7C VS Huawei Honor 7A – The Battery

Both the Huawei Honor 7C and Honor 7A packs a non-removable Li-Po 3000 mAh battery. No fast battery charging or Qi wireless charging and they support micro USB 2.0 charger.

Huawei Honor 7C VS Huawei Honor 7A – The Price

The Huawei Honor 7A is available for about $140 (N49,000) while the Honor 7C goes for about $234 (N81,900). As you can see from our comparison, the only difference is the hardware and memory on both phones. I don’t see the hardware on the Honor 7C worthy of the $96 (N33,600) extra. The Honor 7A can perform the most task of the Honor 7C especially if you go for the 3GB memory variant.
