Huawei launches MateBook 14 Mystic Silver variant in China, costs $825

At the Mobile World Congress 2019 which was held in Barcelona, Spain earlier this year, Chinese tech giant, Huawei announced the new additions to the MateBook series laptops. These included the MateBook X Pro, MateBook 14, and MateBook 13.

A few months later, in April, the MateBook X Pro and MateBook 14 were released into the Chinese market. The laptops are available in two color variants- Mystic Silver and Space Gray.

Earlier today, Huawei made an announcement that the Huawei MateBook 14 in Mystic Silver color option can now be purchased in China at a price tag of 5,699 Yuan which is about $825.

The Huawei MateBook 14, just as the name suggests, features a 14-inch FullView screen which has an aspect ratio of 3:2. Its display resolution is 2160 x 1440 pixels at a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. The laptop comes with an 8th generation Intel Core i5 8265U or Intel Core i7 8565U processor with an optional NVIDIA GeForce MX250 discrete GPU.

In terms of memory, the MateBook 14 packs up to 16GB RAM and up to 512GB of onboard storage. Its frame is made of metal and it comes with a full-size keyboard as well as Huawei’s “Shark Fin Design 2.0” for 18 percent cooling efficiency.

The laptop features dual speakers with Dolby Atmos support, one USB-C port, two USB-A ports (2.0 and 3.0), a 3.5mm headphone jack, and an HDMI port. It also has a webcam which is recessed in a key for privacy and it also has a fingerprint power button.

The laptop’s Wi-Fi can reach a maximum speed of 1733 Mbps. It also comes with Bluetooth 5.0. The device is powered by a 57.4Wh battery which offers up to 10.5 hours of web browsing, 14 hours of office work, or 15 hours of video playback, according to Huawei’s lab testing. Huawei also claims that charging the device for 15 minutes can offer 3 hours of battery life.

The Huawei MateBook 14 comes in three variants; Intel Core i5 + 8GB RAM + 512GB, Core i5 + 8GB + 512GB + Nvidia MX250 GPU, and Core i7, 8GB + 512GB + Nvidia MX250 GPU. They cost 5,699 Yuan (~$825), 5,999 Yuan (~$868), and 6,999 Yuan (~$1,013) respectively.
