Despite being mid-range smartphones, they both offer premium design like the most high-end smartphone. The Huawei P20 Lite comes with a notch at the top of the screen. The notch houses the front camera. Both phones come with an aluminum body and a front glass. While the Huawei P20 Lite is available in Klein Blue, Sakura Pink, and Midnight Black body colors. The Huawei Mate 10 Lite comes in Graphite Black, Prestige Gold, and Aurora Blue body colors.

The Huawei Mate 10 Lite comes in dimensions of 156.2 x 75.2 x 7.5 mm. While the Huawei P20 Lite measures 148.6 x 71.2 x 7.4 mm. The Huawei P20 Lite weighs just 145 grams. Which is light compared to 164 grams the Huawei Mate 10 Lite weighs. The fingerprint sensor is at the top-middle on both smartphones. While the dual rear camera and LED flash of the Huawei P20 Lite are at the top-left corner. The dual rear camera and LED flash of the Huawei Mate 10 Lite is aligned at the top-middle just above the fingerprint sensor. None of the smartphones is resistant to water or dust.

Both the Huawei Mate 10 Lite and P20 Lite’s dual rear camera comes with the same resolution. The primary lens houses a 16MP f/2.2 aperture while the secondary lens features 2 megapixels. For selfies, the Huawei P20 Lite sports a front camera with a resolution of 16MP f/2.0 aperture. While the Huawei Mate 10 Lite sports a dual front camera with a resolution of 13MP f/2.0 aperture and 2MP.

Unlike their advanced versions which pack Huawei latest chipset. The Huawei Mate 10 Lite and P20 Lite are powered by HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset. I think that’s the price of it being affordable. But with an 8-core processor which clocks t 2.36GHz, both phones should still handle task efficiently. Also coupled with their 4GB RAM size.

The internal storage of the Huawei Mate 10 Lite is 64GB. While the Huawei P20 Lite comes in two variants; 32GB and 64GB. The Huawei P20 Lite runs on EMUI 8.0 with Android 8.0 Oreo underneath it. While the Huawei Mate 10 Lite runs on EMUI 5.1 with Android 7.0 Nougat underneath it.

The Huawei Mate 10 Lite is available for around $342 (N119,700). While the Huawei P20 Lite goes for about $452 (N158,200). The only reasonable downside of the Huawei Mate 10 Lite is the no fast battery charging feature. Aside from that, it’s a considerably cheap alternative to the Huawei P20 Lite.
