Intel’s Fastest Gaming CPU Core i9-9900KS Launched @513 Dollar

Intel teased a special edition of its Core i9-9900K at ComputerX 2019 which is currently the best and fastest processor for 1080p gaming. The processor dubbed Intel Core i9-9900KS is now globally launched.

The processor is based on the 9900K’s 8 core, Coffe lake-refresh based die. The factor which makes it a special edition is its turbo and base boost clock. Intel Core i9-9900KS delivers up to 5.0 GHz all-core turbo frequency. The processor boasts 8 cores and 16 threads that deliver up to 4.0 GHz base frequency. There is 16MB Intel Smart Cache and up to 40 platform PCIe lanes for gaming and overclocking.

The processor is said to be compatible with existing Z390 motherboards. The TDP of the processor has been increased due to the overclocking of the turbo boost. According to Intel, the TDP rating is 127 watts.

Intel Core i9900KS is the fastest CPU launched by the company ever, it’s because of its massive base and turbo boost. The design of the processor makes it compatible with Intel’s socket 1151 and 300-series chipset-based motherboards.

Frank Soqui, Intel vice president, and general manager of the Desktop, Workstation and Channel Group said, “Intel has raised the bar for desktop gaming with the new 9th Gen Intel Core i9-9900KS Special Edition processor. Based on the 9th Gen Intel Core i9-9900K architecture, it’s the world’s best gaming desktop processor made even better and created specifically for extreme gamers who want the most performance possible. This processor demonstrates another innovation milestone for Intel, following last year’s limited edition 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8086K”.

The processor has been priced at $513 and will be available beginning Oct. 30. Seeing its price, the processor will directly compete with AMD’s Ryzen 9 3900X.

Ryzen 9 3900X is built on AMD’s 7nm technology whereas the Intel Core i9900KS is based on 14nm manufacturing process. However, Intel’s 9900KS precedes Ryzen 9 3900X in terms of clock speed.
